Had it a few times when I was in Galway, the madras pea and potato one but i don't get down often! Old thread here, wonder if there are any updates

The recipe in the linked thread is pretty bang on, v similar spice mix and texture is good from adding the potato in 2 batches.

Yeah I was hoping someone could expand on it, the first recipe was supposed to be ok but not quite there and the last recipe posted in that thread that was supposed to be close to the original recipes uses some spice mixes that the link is expired to now.

Seen they sell them in pots in some shops in Galway and the ingredients state:

sunflower oil, potatoes, onions, peas, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, spices, tomato puree, salt.

Just listing spices means it's hidden to secrecy. If they just sold them in Dublin would save all this :P

Unless you're seeking exactly the Bean Tree curry you'll get most of the way there with a simple madras or other curry powder (Aldi, Tesco...) along with the chopped tomato, spuds, peas and water.
