I have a fiat ducato 2.8 jdt commom rail engine low on power at slightest incline.

Anyone have any idea what the cause might be?

Turbo seems fine as when I rev the engine I can feel the turbo on the hoses.

There's about a 98% chance it doesn't have one unless it's the rare 146hp power jtd version.

Has the injection light ever come on?

Timing belt and service less than 15k but might get them done again soon.

I had one of those and the gearing was quite tall, always dropping into 4th on the slightest hill unless you were already trucking along. .. it was just under 3.5 tonne empty. What weight is yours??
I chipped mine... ploughed up the hills then. :)

Is the speedometer working, if not it will be way down on power as the ecu won't know what speed you are doing.

I believe the op's van is Year 2000 and would have a mechanical speedo.

It's normal with those to drop a gear on the hills. I'd only make 55mph on the big motorway hills. If its very slow, worth checking intake isn't blocked, map sensor is clean, intercooler is clean.

Check for any crack in the hose between turbo and intercooler. My 3.5 Iveco td had a similar lack of power on hills when I got it five years ago. Two years later I discovered a slight crack in the pipe, replacing the it made a huge difference.
