Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Food Places You'd Like To Try That Ireland Doesn't Have

Following my other fast food poll I thought i'd create a thread on food places that Ireland doesn't have. These are not all fast food. There are loads more fast food and food restaurants just across the North Atlantic Ocean in the USA I've put along with some in the UK plus 1 in Germany. This time there's also the none option for people that are not interested.

Franco Manca is badly needed to improve the standard of pizza.

Why tf is Nordsee even on the list? It's beyond rank and expensive.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,711 ✭✭✭keano_afc

Chick-fil-A is up there, heard good things.
IHOP as well would be on my list.

In n out is the obvious one, I have had it a few times and it is pretty tasty.
Though I will say with Bunsen we are already pretty well off for top class burger places.

Greggs, one of the few things I miss from the UK, the other being Bitter.

So hard to find a pasty or pie in Ireland.

Theres that cow dung and urine fast food empire in India?

Youd know it tastes like shoite before even biting into it, and then you can take the piss out of the place all you like (free refills)

    This.

Also somewhere like V-Rev or Temple of Seitan - vegan/vegetarian junk food.

In n out burger is only in two or three states in the west within America so I highly doubt they'd expand outside America.

I think they did have a pop up store here in Dublin though briefly

    Chilli's - Great spot (like a TGI Friday's mixed with a Wetherspoons).

Tony's (I think) Crab Shack. Unbelievable!

    Bubba Gump

    All truly awful.

The only one on the list worth trying is In n Out.

I had Greggs for the first time this year. I thought it was pretty decent for what it is.

There used to be a great pasty/pie place on Wicklow St in Dublin about 10 years ago. I remember it had massive portions too. Shame it closed down.

I think the owner is in some sort of legal battle with McDonalds who are trying to prevent them expanding around Europe cos of the name similarity.

Anyway, I think we should get a Jack in the Box (edit: and a Dennys)

but most of all... I want to try Big Kahuna Burger :pac: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mnb_3ibUp38

Ihop I frequented was manky, greasy food served by unhappy wait staff with annoying, US versions of skanger families seated all around. This was an Ihop in Cambridge Massachusetts right next to Harvard too, a very wealthy area.

Taco Bell was fantastic drunk food, can't bate dollar burritos. Waffle House was also lovely, friendly staff open 24/7 and food cooked in front of you. Hooters was muck with microwaved food and crap beer, same with Dave and Busters. Cracker Barrell was also good for reliable fresh food at decent prices, Chipotle too.

Nordsee is one that I found while looking up restaurants in Dubai although their main country is Germany.

In and Out Burger actually had a pop up place in Dublin (temple bar?) a while back. Think it was just for a day.

I had easily the vilest meal of my life in an American franchise Mexican resturant in the UK so I would be wary of a lot of franchise beyond the McD type.

Tbh in and out just wouldn’t be the same on the M50. It suits the Californian landscape

I didn't realise they were a chain. I was in one in San Diego years ago. To say it was an eye-opener would be the understatement of the century. :D Pretty decent food though, iirc.

They aren't that bad, just a lot of roast veg and meat. Never had a bad experience at one and always felt stuffed afterwards.
