    Hi all,

We have been renting our home to our tenant for the past number of years and she is moving out in a week or so. What is the process of ensuring that utilities come off her name by the date she moves out? I presume that we will need to keep the utilities in our name until we sell the house so that we can keep heating on etc.

Can this switch over of name be done over the course of a number of days or is there a 30 day notice period required?

Take a meter reading when doing the exit inspection. Contact the providers to says you are taking over the bills and the readings are x for electricity and y for gas, if you have both. Then when you sell take a meter reading when contracts are signed saying you no longer own the property
