Beautiful day in Galway now but I still cannot get over how windy it is, must be very strong in the South East.

I'm right on the border between the south midlands and the southeast. Here it's just 24c now after Midday with an average wind breeze of 10mph. Gusting 15mph. It's a steady light to moderate breeze, but I wouldn't class it as "windy".

The heat seems to be centered around Carlow, Laois, Kilkenny, Southern Tipperary, Northern Cork, Northern Kerry, Southern Clare and Limerick. All in the 23c to 24c range at midday readings. Probably safe to say that another 3c, possibly 4c can be added to these over the next five to six hours.

Whatever the current combination of conditions are that is prompting it but the worst hay fever attack I have had in years. Even this time last year, which was much drier and hotter it wasn't this bad. Eyes streaming and a bloated red blotchy face like a hardened oul whiskey guzzler.

Very gusty here too well inland Co. Galway.

Clouds have cleared and it's certainly heating up in West Clare. Like a hairdryer.

Wind has eased considerably in Arklow averaging just 10kmh now NE so it's very pleasant
Wind goes SE tomorrow so it'll be the turn of west leinster and east connacht to see the highest temps and it's also bringing in the highest 850's so a 29c somewhere or even 30 can't be ruled out
Certainly should be a few 28's

BBC weather on news 24 Saturday has the front sparking over east leinster including Dublin
A bit early to say on that

18C here inland north Dublin, the breeze is strong in exposed areas but the breeze is a tad warmer than yesterday which helps it feel summery.

I was in a bad state yesterday with hayfever, but strangely am not too bad today (Cork city area). Maybe the overdose of anti-histamine I took yesterday is just kicking in now though..

sunny in Meath and wind has died down slightly, but still fairly breezy. Temperatures much the same as they have been over the past week, currently holding at 18C. Not expecting to break the 20C barrier till tomorrow.

County Clare is currently the warmest location in the British Isles at 26C. Temperatures almost 10C cooler in the Greater Dublin area and eastern UK.

It would be great if we get another warm area of high pressure later in the summer that doesn't have an east or northerly sourced winds spoiling the temperatures.

We had easterly winds in late June last year and the cooling effect from the Irish Sea wasn’t nearly as big as it is now because it was much warmer then from the very warm May and warm June up to that point compared to this year which has been cool. Managed 27c in Dublin on 27th/28th June 2018 despite the easterly winds. Meanwhile, almost 10c cooler at max today.

ah horrible. I have been outside all day and no hay fever as there is a breeze off the ocean that seems to dispel the pollen. My hay fever has been appalling of late...

Quintessential summer out here today. Strong sun and a fresh breeze off the ocean to offset it without making it too cool.. perfection! I have gardened myself into a state of exhaustion! gazing out at the azure ocean , seeing the green and flowers, and butterflies... Sheer bliss

It has been trying to haze over wit h almost transparent cloud.. but today is a red letter day here..

    Sheer summer...

Very warm if not getting hot here in Tralee.

Warm breeze. After a cloudy start almost completely clear sky now.

Really enjoying the west in Cork today - it’s just about perfectly warm and there’s a very nice breeze.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

It's interesting to see how the wind direction is affecting the temperatures here in South Laois:

    windd.png

    temp.png

Local hills directly to the east, taper back down lower to my northeast. Every time the winds back north of east they drop the temperature by 0.5c or thereabouts. Particularly noticeable after the midday line.
