Pay as you Go options

Im trying to figure out what free SIM and pay as you go options exist out there these days.

I have an application that will use a number of mobiles with only minimal numbers of calls a month and no need for data. I don't want to have to pay monthly as it would be a waste, given that only 4 or 5 calls a month would be used. So I'd prefer to put on a top-up that would last for say 6 months and have the cost of calls taken out of remaining balance.

This is basically how almost all mobiles used to work before these monthly prepay packages became the norm. Any views?

You dont need to topup each month. You can topup once, and then use the credit for the next number of months till it runs out.

Are the calls to landlines or mobiles?

The main disadvantage of pay as you use without a bundle is the cost per minute of around 35 cent from all the networks in addition to a connection fee that some of them charge.

Cheapest top up requirement is 5 euro every 6 months on Vodafone PAYG

Just bare in mind that Vodafone require the topup each 6 months. Other networks you can topup once and use it for years. You need to make a chargeable transactions (either call or text) once at least every 12 months to keep the sim activate.
