Just finish really. Minimal training due to life and a med change over the summer that absolutely flattened me. I'm basically stubborning my way through it.

No, once you’ve no training done your not allowed to run the race, it’s in the rules........(joking)

No issues with dropping down a wave, it’s moving up that’s an issue.

Tonight mirrors this night last year, few to many and a man of my age should be long in bed!! But tomorrow I won’t wake up to look forward to pacing DCM, the walk from the Lansdowne to the start, standing in the wave areas being asked what time your pacing even though you have a big fcukin balloon with 4.10 on it hanging over your head!!

The countdown and anticipation till it’s your turn to cross the start line, the huge amount of happiness and delight from the crew that are following you once they start running, so many smiles because they done the hard part, they crossed the starting mat. The cheers along the Quays, the crowd in Stoneybatter, the autumnal feel as you run up NCR into the Park.

The abuse you receive as you take a leak and your pacing balloon bursts!! Up Chesterfield taking it handy, into Castleknock. My god Myo’s really is otherworldly support wise!! Drop down and back into the park, banter in the pacing group is good, so many happy people!! A cheer from Sean Hehir, back into the Pheno, a fellow pacee takes a slash it’s your job to pull them along now!! Out the Chapelizod Gates, Trim crew shouting there lungs out!!

Into Chapelizod, man Dublin loves there marathon, so so many people cheering us on. Saint Lawrence’s Rd, slow don’t burn anyone off. Big crew in tow still, slip down into Kilmainham, where are these people coming from, a shoutout from a friend and the buzz is indescribable!! Along the South Circular into Crumlin, the support is incessant.

Walkinstown Roundabout we lose a few, a shame but we can’t stop for them!! Gets sketchy now, big crew still and I drop to the rear of the group, Terenure and a big high 5 from my old physio in Ireland. Onto Milltown where the hills start, I love this ****, still 20-25 with us!! The hills hit but runners dig in, they want this!! Heading back for town, towards UCD flyover runners who started to fast pulled in an ambulance dealing with one, prayer said they are ok.

The faster, stronger in the group push on here and we don’t see them again. Towards Ballsbridge and RDS now, the crowds thicken. Families looking for loved ones, this city really is the best!!! I won’t tell lies, I lose myself somewhat from here. Concentrating on getting as many as we can over the line in 4.10. Encouraging more to push on, in around Merrion Square, deafening support, people shouting every name you can think of in support of the people they have come to see.

This crack is infectious, so many runners chasing you now, every muscle and bit of energy being expended to get across that finish line the right side of 4.10 as it was with 2.10, 3.10 etc everyone with a different but equally important goal. Your time is near up, Mickey dazzling aside we get as many as we can across the line in our allotted time. Runners thank & hug you for your help, some whack a sloppy kiss on your lips!!

It’s everything you dreamed of and more, DCM is the best. Go run it and enjoy every step, it only happens once a year because it is that SPECIAL.
