I think that Jacob is one of my favourites. He thinks of himself as some political mastermind, and he carries out his plans, but always, and I mean ALWAYS, gets caught lying.

This is a very good article about him catfishing the woman he used for the Mueller accussation.

It also looks like he's trying to confuse the authorities about his current location by pretending to travel the world: https://twitter.com/NikkiMcR/status/1167216699193602050

Ok, sorry for going off topic, back to Donald now! :D

No no screw that, not before we talk about Jacob's super top secret spy company, Surefire Intelligence!

If I saw this in a slapstick comedy, I would turn if off for being far, far, far too on-the-nose and unbelievable.
In 2018, Wohl created and registered the company Surefire Intelligence, LLC. Reporters who investigated Surefire Intelligence's website and company in October 2018, in relation to an alleged plot to frame Robert Mueller for sexual assault, found that the company had been created by Wohl just a few weeks earlier and that its official phone number redirected to a voicemail message which provided a phone number owned by Wohl's mother.[7] They also reported that photographs on the website depicting some of its purported employees were actually photographs of people unrelated to Surefire, including actor Christoph Waltz. News agencies found profiles of supposed Surefire Intelligence employees on the LinkedIn professional networking site which used photographs of unrelated celebrities as profile images; a photograph of Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli was used on a profile claiming to be the company's "Tel Aviv station chief", and a profile of a "Matthew Cohen" used an altered photo of Wohl. A journalist visited the address listed on Surefire Intelligence's website and found it to be the location of an unrelated company.[32]

Soon after creating the company, Wohl advertised it as a team of private investigators on classified ad site Craigslist. In the ad, Wohl falsely claimed that Surefire consisted of former Israeli intelligence agents and various other investigative experts. At least once, Wohl posed as investigator "Matthew Cohen" to a potential client who responded to the ad. One paid him a $1,200 advance fee for help in recovering her stolen truck, but Wohl never performed any investigative services for the fee, nor did he return the money or contact her again.[33]

Hold on wait there's more... I forgot he and his lawyer had a press conference denying this securities fraud stuff a while back. It's pretty glorious, but the highlight has to be that his lawyer's fly was down throughout the entire thing!

Do they care that Trump, in his role of president, has not even bothered to learn the words to the national anthem? Nope.

I'm wondering if that would be an interesting tactic to employ in the debates for the Dems.

Just come straight out and ask him to lead the crowd in a rendition of the Star-Spangled-Banner, on mic.

Or, to take a hit at the evangelicals, since he loves all of the bible, it being his favourite book ever, both parts, get him to just say the "Our Father" or whatever major prayer the evangelicals use in their sermons.

Signs you grew up in Ireland: barring weddings and funerals you have not been to church since before your balls dropped, and never even made your communion or confirmation... but for some weird reason can fire off an Our Father on demand like it was something you do 100 times a day.

Or is that just me? :o

Ha, you're 100% right, an Our Father or a Hail Mary rolls off the tongue :D

Which for the ultra-devout Trump should also be the case. I can quote the above, and the bible is not my favourite book ever. No reason why trump couldn't do the same given it is his

Have seen it alright. That's my point really. Could show him up for the hypocrite he is by putting him on the spot. Whatever about quoting bible verses, a "devout" man like Trump should be able to say a prayer, especially in front of an audience the size of which would watch a presidential debate

That gobshíte is still on about the Alabama weather thing.

Whatever about all the other lies that come and go within the course of hours, this one is starting to look increasingly pathetic.

I'd love to see one of his regular defenders have a go here but I have a feeling that not even they could be fooled by this nonsense.

It'd just be the usual spiel about how he's doing it on purpose to own the libs and you are falling into his trap by noticing that he is nutty as squirrel poo.

So, if I recall there was a bit of a teeny, tiny controversy in 2016 over the Democrat Primaries, and I have seen many a Trump supporter on Twitter, Reddit etc claim that it was undemocratic and rigged, and that they deserved to lose on that and that alone. I would like to know what they think of this...

Republicans to scrap primaries and caucuses as Trump challengers cry foul
Four states are poised to cancel their 2020 GOP presidential primaries and caucuses, a move that would cut off oxygen to Donald Trump’s long-shot primary challengers.

Republican parties in South Carolina, Nevada, Arizona and Kansas are expected to finalize the cancellations in meetings this weekend, according to three GOP officials who are familiar with the plans.

GOP don't have to be masters of the illusion when you look at the education levels of their base, but it has always been amazing to me that the Cold War left such a deep scar on American politics that the GOP can easily distract everyone by saying "socialism = anti-democratic" whilst in plain sight doing the most anti-democratic things possible.

And they also convinced what's left of the Republicans that snuggling up to the Russians (heretofore the dreaded Commies) was a GOOD thing

Very good points. At this point the Republican party has lurched so far to the right that it is patently anti democratic at this point be it with their voter suppression efforts around the country in states they control, stacking the supreme court with lackeys to do their bidding rather then be legitimate judges or supporting in lock step an authoritarian demagogue as president. There is also IMHO a strong strain of "I got mine screw everyone else" mindset in the US when it comes to life in general and this mentality I think helps them get away with what they are doing.
The problem is as I have said before like it or not the US is still the most powerful nation on earth and when they are going off the deep end it has consequences for the whole planet and not good ones to put it mildly as we are and have seen.

More distraction in a week where Pentagon funds have been raided for the wall, and pardons offered to anyone who has to break the law to get it done. The media networks are being played for suckers again.

Yeah, think I read that they've shelved plans for 127 projects to shift funds to the fence building with a plan to get 175 miles built. Curious if Manic has any opinions re military funding being pulled to fund Trumps vanity project?

Further to that, the Christian Evangelical movement has invested huge amounts of time and effort into pushing its religious ideas into Republican policy. Hence the ever stronger emphasis on subjects like Abortion, Planned Parenthood, Anti- LGBTQ etc. Trump's team saw the power of this cohort and cosied up to the likes Billy Graham, Jerry Falwell and other Bible thumpers. They on the other hand cosied up to Trump as the alternative for them (i.e. Clinton) was simply never going to be supported. The movement has seen tacit acceptance that Trump is a misogynist, philandering crook, but at least, he's their misogynist, philandering crook. That is the same cohort that spawns White Supremacist, Anti- Immigration bigotry and drives the Trump is Chosen by God rhetoric. This bigotry is not unlike that which has pervaded Northern Irish life for generations, and gave rise to a political environment that was infected by religious doctrine.

Every time, you see a U.S. President attend at a National Prayer Breakfast, you need to recognise that these events completely undermine the more liberal and democratic separation of Church and State that underpins societies in other countries, such as in Continental Europe.

Coming into 2020, Trump will still capture most of the Evangelical votes, regardless of any apparent immoral or amoral behaviour on his part. His total undermining of environmental safeguards that other countries have tried to implement conforms to the fundamentalist view that we are in 'End Times' and the faithful will be magically 'raptured' into Heaven just before any climate issues takes down the rest of the (non- chosen) human population. So, why would they care about Paris Accords and such- like, when the 'evils and abominations' of abortion and homosexuality can eventually be rowed back by another fundamentalist Christian appointment to the Supreme Court.

I still don't see a credible Democratic candidate who can redress this situation. I also don't see them recognising that the Republican Party of Moscow Mitch, Gym Jordan and others like them will represent fewer numbers, but will gain more electoral votes into the future. By harnessing Electoral College anomalies, Gerrymandering of districts, Voter suppression etc. ongoing dis-enfranchisement of poor, minority voters will only get worse.

For the white Christian fundamentalists, its now all about survival of their species. And Republican Politics is their weapon to achieve that survival, even if every one else suffers.

Yeah and I could give both he our father and Hail Mary a go in Irish despite having first learnt them in Irish at least twenty years ago and having rarely if ever used them in Irish since. Weddings and funerals do say them in Irish from my experience.

Ted Cruz was on my flight this morning, the man in line in front of me as we boarded. I had half a mind to ask him to run against Trump in the Primaries again. Then decided against. I'm not actually convinced he'd be any better. More Presidential, certainly, but in terms of what happens in the country...?

You must have a very high security clearance to be using the same queue as Ted Cruz... ;-):cool:

In retrospect, I think you should have begged him, and done ANYTHING necessary to get him to run. The future of the World was in your hands for a moment there......

Congresscritters as a whole usually fly commercial air. In this case, he was flying United Airlines. And, it is to be said, he was flying alone. No staff or any such.

All joking aside, one would have to consider that, in these times, Congresscritters (I like that) would be relatively high profile targets of opportunity for nefarious dunderheads to make a name for themselves. I'm surprised they still travel relatively so in-securely. Just an observation...

NOAA disavows National Weather Service tweet that refuted Trump's claim Dorian was headed toward Alabama

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on Friday disavowed a tweet from the National Weather Service's Birmingham, Alabama, office that had contradicted President Donald Trump's false assertion that Hurricane Dorian was likely to hit the state.

In a statement attributed to an unnamed NOAA spokesperson, the agency said Trump had been given information from August 28 until Monday that Dorian could impact Alabama.

Cruz is 100% complicit in Trump's administration. He has shown zero backbone in standing up to him. He allowed Trump insult his wife's looks and allege his descendant was involved in the shooting of JFK!? You'd only embarrass yourself by asking.

On another note... in shocking news, grifters gonna grift...

Yes. 100%. Unequivocally. Without a doubt. Let me grab a thesaurus and I'll get back to you.

Even if trump was right (spoiler alert - he wasn't. We saw the charts with our own eyes, with and without the sharpie) the sheer obsession with trying to prove himself right for DAYS afterwards, ringing into fox, multiple tweets about how he was right and the fake news media were up to it again, rather than show some more focus on the actual ****ing hurricane and that people were dying is blatant evidence that he's not right in the head.

Your attempts st defending the man have reached the bottom of the barrel.

Put down the mop and bucket Pete. Seriously.

You realise the NOAA is part of the Department of Commerce? Part of the executive branch of US government. I don't think it's a huge leap to believe orders were handed down to make the boss look good.
