Can't see it at all, the democrats don't even have a candidate yet

No, the Mazers cases currently before the SC. He has been trying to string this out as long as possible, but SC have just compressed the timeframes. He is fighting to hide his tax returns and to keep WH staff from testifying and releasing documents.

This will clear the way for SDNY to go after him.

Even, then, despite the fearmongering from the right, I think a lot of the positions held around medicare and the likes are fairly popular across the spectrum.

Perhaps not quite getting rid of people's health insurance in favour of universal healthcare, but generally, the so called radical ideas of the more left-leaning candidates are not as unpopular as you might think based on the rhetoric in the debates and by the talking heads.

Indeed, the general perception on the ground for 2018 was that the Democrats won heavily because of their stronger stances on healthcare and so on.
I think the country as a whole is a lot more progressive on labour, healthcare, education, drug policy, prisons and pretty much everything else than the Republican platform. That's why the Republicans cleave so strongly towards identity, and religious adjacent topics.

Biden is ahead of Trump in Florida +2, Arizona +5!, Pennsylvania +3 and Wisconsin +3.

He doesn't need any very red states if he wins the battlegrounds.

Assuming Trump is removed (or loses the election) who is there coming up to replace him for the GOP?

    Gaetz?
    Pence?

If he is removed, Pence takes over, unless he is implicated too.

If he just loses, then we have the usual selection process for 2024. Romney will be 77. Jeb Bush will be what, 68? May go again.

No doubt Cruz, Rubio, Christie, Fiorina, Paul and Huckabee will try again, they are all younger.

Nikki Haley has been mentioned as a future candidate. Paul Ryan will presumably try at some stage.

And let's not neglect an Ivanka/Don Jr. ticket!

    Socialist like Biden.....wow.

Nikki Hailey, Ryan will without a doubt re-emerge once the trump saga ends too. As the get back to republican values candidate. Ignoring his time in power of course.

Pompeo would also fancy his chances - If he can get out clean though..

He's desperately looking for a clean getaway right now so he can run for the Senate next November.

If he can get away from the current Ukraine issues relatively unscathed and slide into the Senate for the next 4 years he would end up being a strong candidate, not good mind you, but strong for the GOP - Solid evangelical support etc.

Tracking 538's aggregation as a daily habit, I see the support for impeachment has spiked upwards back up to 48%, after a period of continuous drops. Looks like it tracks with the revelations and testimony from the back half of last week, though as has remained the case, GOP support for Trump remains constant.

If they are smart? Ron DeSantis (Gov. Florida currently) but don't count on it because he's an extremist by Republican standards as he thinks that Spanish reading & speaking only people should understand what they are voting for in his state for the 2020 election by having the voting forms in both English and Spanish etc.

At this stage I don't think pompeo will be able to get out clean but your right he is certainly looking for a way out by reports to run for senate.

Its odd. Trump has been stating that based on the polls impeachment is not backed by the public, and by extension should be cancelled (not sure that is how the legal process is supposed to work but hey).

Of course the corollary of that is that once the polls show the majority want it then I am sure Trump will willing give the people what they want.

After he said he was serious about rooting for Russia over Ukraine, Tucker Carlson has walked back on that, saying he was only joking. Senator John Kennedy, two days ago told an interviewer live on TV that he believed Ukraine, and not Russia, was behind the interference in the 2016 elections, has said he misunderstood the question from the interviewer and believes Russia was behind the attack. The sudden U-turn by both men on their stated position is probably because they have heard the DOJ Inspector General has concluded the FBI got it right on their call that Russia was behind the attack [or so I'd like to think but to be honest, chances are is that they are not being honest].

According to WaPo, Don has appointed Jared Kushner to oversee the construction of the US/Mexico border wall. No mention was made of whom Jared is replacing as job supervisor.

Does he not now what centennial means ? If he don't hold such an important job you'd laugh but that the actual president of the United States.

It's understandable, he's weak on Latin words and their meanings.

    They're never joking.

The last four and a bit years should have taught us that, if anything.

So are we to believe this is a complete coincidence? The aid was not connected to the "favour though"?

Well he thinks he knows what it means but seeing as he believes there wasn't one when many fact witnesses say there was and why they know/believe there was I wouldn't be as confident as you.

In a CNN poll, 61% of women and 40% of men want Trump impeached and removed from office. Huge difference between the two!!

Tucker Carlson sounded coked up in that clip, really off his head. Nothing new for him!

Senator John Kennedy (R) from Louisiana, on Fox News with Chris Wallace last Sunday, also had difficulty accepting the Russians interfered with 2016 elections. Insisted Ukraine was involved. He walked that back with Chris Cuomo last night, actually admitting he was wrong!

Looks like the Democrats are backing away from impeachment.

Several safe dems saying it's not going to happen.

Adam Schiff saying he hasn't decided on voting for impeachment. That's shocking backtracking.

The expression on Zelensky's face as he is looking across at Trump is priceless! 'How the **** did I get mixed up with this traitor?' :D:D

If the hold was put in place after the meeting, was it an act of revenge by Don for a refusal from Zelensky to interfere, as a proxy, in the 2020 US election? If that could be proven as an act by Don, it would reveal that the OMB review story was a lie and a betrayal of Don's GOP supporters in the Senate, if not a completely unconstitutional move by Don. Realistically, if Zelensky had gone along with Don's plan, he'd be blackmailable from that moment on by Don & whomever...
