My brother is having a spat with his ex over medical records. They were married and separated in recent times, according to the ex wife she’s alleging that the child’s gp said once the child turns 16 he’ll be unable to access their records, can anyone confirm or deny?

Children aged 16 and over can consent to their own medical treatment, except for mental health treatment for which parental consent is needed up to 18. I think it's this policy that applies https://www.tusla.ie/uploads/content/NationalConsentPolicyPart2.pdf.

Parents may be able to access medical records of minors under the FOI Act but the closer they are to 18 and unless there's a problem I don't know that access is a given. All of this would apply to both parents though??
