Fine for scratches but it's only a sheet of plastic. My s10 still has it on it and it looks fine. Some people hate it some people like it some people want greater protection from knocks.

I did. It was like a scene out of Bowfinger!

Lovely phone I have to say. Havent managed to test 5G yet as I;m too far away. A lot to look into. The 3D scanner app had to be downloaded and isn't natively installed on the phone. Screen really is beautiful.

I'm still waiting for mine to arrive :( Does the sim tray take 2 SIMs do you know? I know it'll definitely take 1 SIM and a memory card but I'm reading conflicting reports about whether the memory card tray will take a sim instead of the card

The 10+ 5G does not. The tray is designed not to accept two sims. I'm tempted to try my s10 tray (which is dual sim hybrid) just to see if it's a tray issue or hardware issue but haven't plucked up the courage yet.

I'll probably pick up a tray on ebay when they come down in price, I'm getting the 512 version so I shouldn't need any additional space, I'll trial ditching the work phone.

On a side note, does anyone know if you can get a second sim card for your main number? I'm getting an LTE laptop and would like to use the data plan off my phone rather than getting a second bill

No, unless you're a corporate client paying big big bucks.

An another note the Dex integration on a laptop is brilliant.

I use nothing but Dex on my S4 tablet, can't wait to try it on the Note, just a week left for me to wait............

If it's like the S10+ protector it's quite easy to scratch.

Serious buyers remorse on this phone. That dot is staring at me.

If it's annoying you that much get yourself a wallpaper which "hides" it, I did that for my S10 and barely notice it now.

Doesn't bother me on the home screen. It's when using apps. Chrome example. Scrolling boards, dot stands out a mile.

Anyhow, just tried out a 3 sim and it worked. So going to sell it..

You can set a black bar to hide the dot natively from display settings.

I got used to the s10 dot and don't even notice the not 10. Give it some time.

You can also set apps not to use the full screen too.

I find that I get to love new "annoying" things like the dot, I was a user would thought I'd never last without physical buttons now I hide the buttons altogether, it's also a great security feature as the wife or kids don't have a clue how to use my phone :D

Gestures are great. I missed them from my blackberry days.

When someone brings out a pearl track yoke that you can change the colour of I'll be buying it in the morning, I LOVED THAT PHONE.

Just realized I'd at least 4 Blackberries, the original green 1 which needed the ear piece to make calls, the blue one, the pearl 1 and the flick 1, I might even still have then in the attic.

I didn't have the original but I got the 7210 and most models since up to the passport which I loved.

Any way I forgot how much I missed the Spen. Accuracy is incredible.

I've worked in IT for an awful long time so have gone through an awful lot of different devices, I had a Palm Pilot and Palm Treo, the Treo was great cause I got a stylus which had an actual pen built into and could be expanded to be a full sized pen.

F**K I've just realized that my actual phone number is over 20 years old, I got it 6 months before Y2K

I had the palm pilot IIIx and VII. I remember connecting them via ir to my nokia 7210 for internet connection.

I had eircom pagers the ones that were payg. I got my first phone in 1997 from esat. 15 quid a month for 15 sms and 15 mins any network!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 24,014 Mod ✭✭✭✭Clareman

Ahh the pagers, I had 1 of those as well. I also remember using a Nokia and IR to get dialup, saved my bacon a few times with work.

Gentle nudge......... can we keep it more 2019, rather than 1999 please.

More air gestures stylus waving, and less palm pilot restive screen stylus action
    :p

I had a note 4 years ago so not too bad. Still experimenting. I've a USB to HDMI adaptor so I'm dying to try it for presentations.

Controlling music is fine. What issues have you had with the pen?

When I'm following the little tutorial for controlling music, or at least trying to, and it's still showing the arrow gestures..
i actually think the phone felt sorry for me in the end and just finished the tutorial and said well done. If it could have patted me on the head it would have.

    Anyone try quick measure yet?
I must compare the results with a ruler to see how accurate it is.

It's alright. Not sure how much I'll use it though. The stuff I measured was definitely accurate albeit small items.

    Ouch :(

Where I live and work I generally get 20-50Mbps when I had my S10. Have to do some more testing to see if the previous result is consistent or an apparition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,794 ✭✭✭cookie1977

Well routinely getting speeds of 100-200Mbps over mobile data in Dublin subarbs. But side affect of high speed is I burned through over 2gbs today, so be careful if your plan is limited.

I've a Huawei mate 20 Pro and I'm due an upgrade. Thinking of note 10 plus I'm wondering would there be much of a difference or should I hold on to my Huawei for longer?

Same.. ordered the 5G when it came back into stock and they are delaying on dispatch for whatever reason.. I'm a Prime customer and is not making any difference.

There are 4 x cases coming thru Parcel Motel for me at moment.. they will be here tomorrow. Yes, 4.. I like some choice. Just all basic slim fit from Ringke and Spigen; same as one's I have used over years and sticking with same. Only a few £ each but for whatever reason both Ringke and Spigen will not deliver to Ireland.

I ordered mine on the 13th of August so hopefully I'll be at the front of the queue, I've gone for the 512 version and there seems to be a shortage of it, oh well

I was gonna pull trigger on the 512 too but was gone out of stock by the time I got myself to order. It said 1-4 weeks but at this stage I may have got it quicker.. that said, I don't need 512GB.. I have a Note 8 with 64GB and a 128GB card in it, and still loads of space left.

Still no ParcelMotel texts for my cases.. they have them all now in Dublin but nothing out to locker yet. Eagerly waiting on the shipping of the phone from Amazon.. so long as its before 31st Oct then I am OK.. :D

There was only £100 of the difference between the 512 and the 256 5G version so I went for the 512 version. I've a Spigen case here waiting for the phone for a week, they aren't cheap cases but I like them :)

Also says sound quality improved for wired headphones.

I'm kind of annoyed that if you get a watch for ~€300 you get a free wireless charging pad but you get a phone for ~€1,300 you don't get anything.

Would do if Amazon shipped the feckin thing as promised! I chatted to them this morning and they've admitted they were showing Note 10's in stock that needed to come in from another Amazon facility.. and that it is taking longer than expected.
