All they do is confront fascism and ensure it doesn't become normalised.
They don't want everybody to do anything except not be a fascist.
No need for a party, a leader or PR.
They don't care what anyone thinks, it's working.

Ok, it is clear you have no interest in debating the political ideology, methods or otherwise of AntiFa.

I could summarise your comment above as "nothing to see here, move on" like AntiFa should just be ignored and there's no discussion to be had. But there is a discussion to be had, and a serious one too.

Look, my suspicion is that AntiFa is just a mob looking for a fight, just like the neo-nazis. Mobs of all persuasions generally attract bitter, angry resentful people, driven by hate (despite what they may say). They are made up of loners, outsiders, ostracised because of their extreme views (which are informed by their hatred).

All the while these angry extremists float around in their bubbles feeding each others paranoia, screaming into their eco-chambers the rest of the world just gets on with their lives; the crazy rantings of a minority falling on deaf and indifferent ears.

And when these angry men and women go on the internet they often resort to trolling as it's the only thing that gives them some sense of power.

I don't take pleasure knowing there are people out there who are so miserable and disenfranchised that joining some lunatic fringe mob and/or trolling on the internet is the only thing that will give them joy. This is not good for the individual and hence society as a whole.

So, alas, I wish you well.

Not much news about antifa these days. It's like the lack of far right events which were close to becoming normalised aren't going ahead now so job done.

    Well done antifa.

Perhaps they're laying low in their parents basement and staying out of trouble... afraid they won't get nice Christmas presents.

You can ignorantly accuse me of "whataboutism," but what it really is involves identifying similar scenarios in order to see if it holds up when the shoe is on the other foot!

I'd be more concerned as to why the British would elect a sexist, homophobic racist as it's political head of state.

I guess people fell for the dopey Bertie Ahern routine.

Im pretty sure if you take almost any extroverted confident man from western europe and research everything he has ever said over a 30+ year period, present it as if it was said in the modern day and not in a lot of cases there - the 90s , youll find something to have issue with.

I have no issue with anything he said in the time and context it was said, a conservative pm who's been in politics for decades is not and was not expected to hold himself to the speech standards of a 2019 'woke left' millennial.

Tories are hyper-individualists who ooze neoliberalism. Have been since at least Thatcher. Ridiculous to confuse that with fascism.

It's the racist, homophobic sexist things he's published that might do that. Not to mention betraying the public they serve for greed.

Fascism is slightly more serious than the bumbling ignorance Boris releases. Boris cant be confused with a fascist precisely because he is so individualistic. If groups like Antifa insist on associating Boris with fascism, then they're essentially saying this great evil they are opposed to is fairly banal. Everyone gets the whole Antifa thing is performance art but they're really jumping the shark at this point.

I haven't laughed at a post like this in a while. Just brilliant.

    Anti-fashista are anti-democratic.

Why are the police stopping these people exercising their free speech?

See the video of army and navy students throwing white power signs at their football match in the US. Should all but put on bog cleaning duty for a few years. This type of atmosphere encouraged by the establishment from the president down.

I think you need to look in the mirror to see who is being played like a fiddle.

Imagine thinking the international sign for "ok" now means white power because of some **** lords on 4chan.

Imagine not knowing it has been appropriated by the far right and that the NZ killer was just saying ok.

Subscribing to PewDiePie is also white power too?

He also wears trousers. Do you?

The ok symbol is a joke and used to make fun of idiots who think it stands for white power.

A lot of white power people disagree.
Why do you think the NZ shooter did it when he was in court.

4chan invents hysteria that the hand symbol is a white power thing
people who are not white supremacists but right leaning keep using it to troll
left ramps this up as a feedback loop to 'prove' these people are white supremacists
entire thing blows up into people thinking this is real and not something a 15 year old on a forum came up with
real white supremacists start doing it because they believe it
outrages the left even more, thus becoming funnier for right wing trolls
circle complete. Its being used by trolls and real supremacists , it causes outrage at real and perceived hypersensitivity to white supremacy,
actually has an origin on internet boards
complete pot luck as to why somebody is doing it, its a streisand effect thing, if the left stopped caring about it, everyone would stop doing it.

Because he is a prick who thought it would be funny to use it as a joke and to create hysteria from arseholes who will see it and promote it as proof of a new emerging white power movement.

It worked. We have people like yourself now calling for people who use the symbol to be punished because they are promoting white power.

Were you one of the people that found Pepe the Frog offensive too?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,939 ✭✭✭20Cent

The far right appropriate common symbols in order to further their cause. They include a plausible deniability so they can claim ignorance afterwards. All part of the normalisation of fascism. Dumb right wing people will stick up for them afterwards. The Navy are investigating the intention behind the symbols hopefully they will be assigned cleaning the jack's duty for a few years.

Image of Obama doing the ok sign incoming.

    Symbols change over time.
It's the intent that matters as well.

The swastika was an old Indian symbol but good luck going around in a swastika t shirt.
