A member of antifa? But how? How can you be a member?

From what I gather it's a bit like the anarchists in terms of a non existent hierarchy. My point was that Loughnane has nothing to do with them.

Yeah, you have hit the nail on the head there. Antifa are pathetic basement dwellers, who live mainly on the internet while at the same time being an unstoppable terrorist menace who threaten to tear the fabric of society apart.

    That sums this thread up.

Is this thread still going? Really? How in God's name could anybody ever care about minor street theatre in Portland, 6,000 miles away. I doubt they worry too much about it in Portland.I doubt it makes the news even in the US outside Portland.

Is it some twitter driven thing?

The "protests" over one of the proposed DP centres in the west of the country having people from outside the area bussed in to "protest" it are pretty emblematic of why this thread (and others) are still going; Boards is chock full of right-wing Americans trying to spread their brand of hate here. Of course, there's plenty of our own home-grown dopes who shriek 'the left calls everyone a Nazi these days' at the mere suggestion that neo-Nazis might exist, ready to lap it up.

What's most disappointing is how the admins (and really everyone in charge) have, over the years, basically capitulated to them. This forum itself exists as a way to quarantine the worst of it but the fact is by not simply stomping it out, it's allowed fester on the site.

People may jeer at the idea of reminiscing about some point in Boards' past when the site was better but really, it was. At the least, you didn't have hoards of people screeching about 'SJWs' and ****e like that. Yeah, it was 'leftie' this and 'liberal' that but absolutely nothing like the perpetual outrage machine this is. The greatest irony that's lost on these dopes is how they scream about anyone different from themselves and then scream louder about how they 'just have different opinions'.

**** it, if that's what the leadership here want the site to become then I'm going to make sure to enjoy myself as it circles the drain.

I'm afraid you're going to see a complete collapse in sympathy for your causes now that the pandemic is here..Nor only a collapse but an explosion in outright hostility I'd imagine.
You really are going to be fighting against the system now, rather than the usual scenario of you being backed up and used as useful idiots by the system. The money train is over lads.

You're about to find that you're no longer useful. I'd go as far as to say that a great many of you are going to face the long arm of the law soon. Are you worried?

A lot of cryptic stuff here, can you clarify what you're talking about?

No one actually takes antifa in Ireland that seriously.

Paid thugs that arrive, cause trouble and attack women and children on their way home from rallies.

Our Irish Chapter has had little interaction with them and I wouldn't see it going much further then that.

Reason I asked about other forums was to help understand the Irish landscape a bit better for the Irish chapter.

    Chapter of what?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I've been very consistent throughout the thread saying antifa in Ireland is tiny and not very important as well.

there is as much desire for antifa left aligned thuggery as there is for proudboy right aligned thuggery, very very little on the fringes and not accepted alliance by most political parties. We don't need to import, defend or excuse either.

The difference is, theres no mainstream political party who champion or welcome the proud boys or any other far right groups, However on your side PbP welcomed and supported Joe loughnanne, right up until his latest phone smashing incident.

And don't come back saying Joe loughnanne has nothing to do with antifa, GARN was a political vehicle run by him, financially supported by PbP and he held rallies where antifa and AFA flags were proudly displayed without a single simmer of condemnation from him.

I would just like to point out that there is a moderate difference between the European chapters and American ones. The use of violence being the main part and our bye laws reflect that.

You won't find an article since 2018 when we started here of any "thuggery " in Ireland. It's a drinking club that has all sorts in it.

We are just not very PC.

Sound exactly like socialist youth movements.
Western wannabe socialists and communists are pathetic. They somehow think they can keep all perks of capitalism under some socialist regime. The one which rule primarily by suppressing individual and freedom.
People who never experienced joys of socialism yet they dream about it are delusional and a dangerous threat to society.

not so much in Ireland, no. The last lot who tried to organise a march here went home crying to their mothers.

One group of approaching Pegida supporters was chased back down Talbot Street by a splinter group, some wearing masks and chanting, "Fascist scum, off our streets."

A security guard at a shop on Talbot Street described how a group of 15-20 men chased a man into the shop and began beating him.

There were particularly violent clashes between over 100 protestors and police as they gathered outside a pub, in which pro-Pegida protestors. were believed to be gathered.

They really shon a positive light on themselves that day.... damn fascist gardai....
15-20 men beating the sh*t out of a guy in a shop , what a weakling that guy was..
