I have a journalism degree. It's not worth anything.

On the job experience is better than academic qualifications.

You keep using the doctor analogy. This is false. You need an innate skill to be a journalist. Those skills are not always necessarily taught. They come naturally. To be a doctor, you need knowledge to diagnose and to treat.

To be a journalist, you need to report news. No bias or opinion is needed. In fact, there is a reasonable point to be made that someone who hasn't gone through the indoctrination of modern colleges is more likely to be a better journalist.

Having the integrity to be honest, having the ability to write with a good grasp of the language you write in and the bravery to not be afraid to go against the mainstream narrative is more than enough "qualification".

If you can't see the difference, then it says more about you.

This has been explained. Please stop repeating the same ****.

Aaannnnnnnd of course the pre assault footage comes out. NGO spent hours going around annoying people trying to start a scrap before the incident. Even the cops were pissed off with him whinging. If he went to the Vatican and went around sticking his camera in people's faces and whinging at them the Pope would have lost patience and slapped him.

The mayor is the problem. After the Ngo events, he issued a memo to all police with the heading 'thank you' for their good work. The guy is a joke.

This is how parts of the left attempts to spin this story. Dirty, dirty, morally corrupt scumbags.

"Actual milkshakes were used by leftwing protesters. A videographer and editor for the rightwing magazine Quillette, Andy Ngo, had one dumped on him early in the day"
    The Guardian

If the writer of this article, Jason Wilson, were a conservative- he would be called a troll, a conspiracy nut, far right and a nazi.
But he writes for the Guardian.

Why do citations need to be checked these days? Most of the citations for people being labelled 'far-right' on wikipedia come back to someone like Wilson. Its scumbaggery. An example would be what Stephen is being called in the first page of the gemma thread. Scumbaggery. The citation clearly leads back to a post where he is speaking tongue-in-cheek, and the context clearly suggest otherwise. Wikipedia citations are all the same these days.

These articles penned by him all engage in blatant 'whataboutery', mostly just smearing people with names and accusations, finding people guilty by the association, without ever citing facts, events, statistics.
    • A prominent anti-Islamic extremist whose organisation is being investigated in Austria over links to the Christchurch shooting suspect has apparently been permanently excluded from entering the UK.
    • Austrian far-right leader searched on suspicion of forming terrorist group with Christchurch shooter
    • Christian rightwingers warn abortion fight could spark US civil war
    • Christchurch shooter's links to Austrian far right 'more extensive than thought'
    • 'Senseless hate': the far right's deep roots in southern California
    • Intelligence report appeared to endorse view leftwing protesters were 'terrorists'
    • Eco-fascism is undergoing a revival in the fetid culture of the extreme right...Unfortunately for Conway, Nazism and a twisted version of ecological thinking are joined in the minds of a share of rightwing extremists.

    https://www.theguardian.com/profile/wilson-jason

He just moves from one sensational story to the next drumming the beat of nazis and extremism and far-right, leaving a wake of innocent people behind him- and it gets eaten up by the left. When he is living in Portland one of the most liberal cities in the North West.
The right calls out its nuts, the left hails their as heros

    ...........

You're completely misscharacterising those articles. Eg

"A prominent anti-Islamic extremist whose organisation is being investigated in Austria over links to the Christchurch shooting suspect has apparently been permanently excluded from entering the UK.

Martin Sellner, the Austrian leader of Generation Identity, was being excluded on security grounds and posed a serious threat to the UK’s interests of preventing social harm and countering extremism, according to a Home Office letter which has been posted online."
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/jun/26/anti-muslim-extremist-martin-sellner-permanently-excluded-from-entering-uk

It speaks of either highly selective reading or outright dishonesty on your part.

You're right, there's certainly some merit to some of what he's saying. But its so riddled with inaccuracies and blatant activism, I didn't care to check them all. I only listed off headings from one page of four of his articles. The same can be said for most conspiracy nuts.

What do you think of his article about what happened in Portland on the 30h, do you think it was fair not to use the word Antifa once in that article?

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/jun/30/portland-police-cement-milkshake-leftwing-rightwing-protests

Here are some more of his article's headings:
    • Islamophobia is practically enshrined as public policy in Australia
    • Neo-Nazi activist behind racist robocalls linked to threats of Idaho newspaper
    • 'Liberty or Death': rightwing protesters march against alleged leftwing violence in Seattle
    • Portland man says he was attacked by man linked to far-right Senate candidate
    • Doxxing, assault, death threats: the new dangers facing US journalists covering extremism-hypocrite

You don't seem to have checked any of them.

I've no idea what your problem was with this -

Austrian far-right leader searched on suspicion of forming terrorist group with Christchurch shooter

The Austrian identitarian leader, Martin Sellner, has been subjected to further searches by Austrian police in connection with the Christchurch shooter, according to Austrian media reports and videos on Sellner’s own YouTube channel.
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/jun/26/austrian-far-right-leader-searched-on-suspicion-of-forming-terrorist-group-with-christchurch-shooter

    or this.
Prominent figures on the Christian right in the US ranging from religious magazines to authors to elected politicians have warned that the fight over abortion rights could lead to a new civil war.

Republican lawmakers such as Ohio’s Candice Keller have openly speculated that the divide over abortion rights might lead to civil war. Last month, Keller drew explicit comparisons with the antebellum situation over slavery, telling the Guardian: “Whether this ever leads to a tragedy, like it did before with our civil war, I can’t say.”
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/may/26/abortion-ban-rightwing-christian-figures-civil-war-predictions

Contacts between Austrian Identitarian leader, Martin Sellner, and the Christchurch shooter were more extensive than previously acknowledged, according to European media reports.
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/may/16/christchurch-shooters-links-to-austrian-far-right-more-extensive-than-thought

It turns out by Sellners own admission they did communicate on a number of occassions as opposed to just the once.

'Senseless hate': the far right's deep roots in southern California

And lo and behold, the far right have deep roots in southern california...

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/may/05/far-right-southern-california-history

Intelligence report appeared to endorse view leftwing protesters were 'terrorists'

    and - surprise surprise
An intelligence report produced for law enforcement agencies in the months before the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, in which a neo-Nazi killed one protester by driving a car into a crowd, appeared to endorse a view that leftist demonstrators were “terrorists” and at least equally as responsible for street violence as white nationalists, the Guardian can reveal.
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/apr/01/intelligence-law-enforcement-report-leftwing-terrorists-charlottesville

Absolutely every example you gave was incorrect and misleading.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,170 ✭✭✭Kimsang

You can concentrate on individual facts of individual cases, it does not detract from the fact that his writings are riddled with activism.
You seem to completely ignore this.

    Bias would be an understatement.

To remind you in context of all the stories:

He reports on an investigations in the far right, but says "Intelligence report appeared to endorse view leftwing protesters were 'terrorists". Imagine the headline if the report found rightwing protestors were 'terrorists'! ha , go away with yourself!!!

So while I admit his arguments sometimes have merit, and are worth reporting, largely he is just drumming up hate to sell a rag. I stand by my sentiment that if he was on the right, he would be rightfully called out for this ****.

Doxxing, assault, death threats: the new dangers facing US journalists covering extremism-hypocrite

Funny considering how the left wing MSM tried to paint a schoolboy as a Nazi for giggling nervously at a native American playing a drum and chanting in front of him. Wearing a MAGA hat is enough to labelled a Nazi and receive death threats by the left.

CNN also threatened to dox another kid for making that Trump beating a CNN logo meme from a WWE clip. A child doxxed for making a harmless meme?

    The MSM is a joke.

For anyone interested ANTIFA emerged sometime after the third world congress of the communist international organised by the German KPD (the largest Communist party outside Russia). For the communists in Germany(in German), “anti-fascism” merely meant “anti-capitalism.”. A description of ANTIFA on the German federal office for the protection of the Constitution (i.e. Intelligence services) website notes that the organization still holds this same basic definition of capitalism as being “fascism.”

    via google translate.

To put them in context of the USA, their antagonism is encouraging a counter reaction to them.

The problem here is there really are not any fascists in America anymore. Both the FBI and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), as well as the SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center), estimate 3000-8000 Klan members exist as of 2016. In total, there are an estimated 20,000 to 50,000 active fascists (white supremacists) in the United States--- out of over 300,000,000 people. That's a whopping 0.006% of the population.

For perspective, 0.30% of the population is estimated to identify as transgender. That's a difference of almost 200% or two transgenders per known fascist. Not exactly what I would call an overwhelming force of Nazis marching across the country in black shirts and jackboots.

Oh, that's right, Antifa’s doing that!

The numbers of white supremacists are starting to grow again as a response to Antifa though because they will invariably create the very thing they claim to be against. Extremism always creates counter extremism. Another one of those many paradoxical issues with this group. During the course of their fight against fascism, they create more fascists.

Net Zero means we are paying for the destruction of our economy and society in pursuit of an unachievable and pointless policy.

The doxxing is a poxy thing to do but anyone who uses their 9 year old child like that when they know the sort of f*ckwits that populate Twitter should be ashamed of themselves.

And yes, I would say the same thing if someone used their 9 year old kid to parody Trump or any right wing politician
