Still have this as my team for the 1st week:

    Pope Button
Van Dijk Robertson or TAA Zinchenko Lundstram Kelly
    Salah Sterling Tielemans Jorginho Dendoncker
    King Kane Deulofeu

Main idea now is downgrading Zinchenko to Dunk and upgrading Jorginho to Barkley. Also have to keep an eye on Deulofeu in case he doesn't make the weekend. Or if Everton try and buy him. Trying very hard not to overthink this, think this is the hardest opening gameweek that I can remember!

    Any thoughts/suggestion on the following?

    Ryan
    Robertson - VVD - Digne
    Salah - Sterling - KDB - Perez - Barkely
    Wood - Ings

    Button - Dunk - Greenwood - Lundstrum

    Could play a 451 and change Wood/Ings to Wilson/4.5?

Great midfield, only problem I see is if Kane or Auba or Aguero hit the ground running, how easy is it to get them in?

In my earlier drafts I was picking two from Salah, Sterling, and Kane. In my most recent I had Mo & Harry, with KDB in to make up for the lack of Sterling.

In my latest draft I've managed to squeeze Sterling in for KDB, and I'm trying to figure out if I've sacrificed too much elsewhere. To facilitate the upgrade I've done:

    Robertson to VVD
    Laporte to Zinchenko
    AWB to Zouma
    Maddison to Perez

    And here's the full team:

    Pope/Heaton
    Zinchenko--VVD--Zouma (Dunk, Lundstrum)
    Perez--Salah--Sterling--Barkley (Dendoncker)
    Kane--King--Jota

The upgrade has introduced two punts/risks in the form of Zouma and Zinchenko, but on balance I think I'm okay with the changes. Couldn't rest without Sterling in there.

I think Zinchenko is nailed on for this week, worst case scenario Zouma doesn't start and you need to change him. Then if Zinchenko misses out the following week you have to play Dunk again and change him again.

FWIW, I have 90% same team, no Jota allowed me to get Digne/Roberson at the back instead of Zinch/Zouma

    latest attempt

    Keepers: Alisson

    Defenders: Ake, Van Dijk, Digne,

Midfield: Fraser, Milivojevic, Maddison, Bernardo Silva,

    Forwards: Wilson, Kane, Jimenez

    Subs:
    Midfield - Perez
    Defender - Coleman, Kelly
    Keeper - Ryan

Notes: Ryan & Kelly selected as cheapest players in their area who are predicted to start this weekend and are both on bench.

Would worry that Kelly mightn’t make the cut as Palace signed Cahill from Chelsea.

i can't help feeling that double defence for any team to start is a trap. it might just be the jitters as deadline approaches, but it feels like I'm opening myself up to potential hurt.

it's just that Robertson and VVD are standout picks.
Baffles me how anyone could say this. Bar Gomez/Matip they offer so much going forward, and even if they don't hit the heights of last season (I'd imagine they won't be far off) they are still better value than everyone else at their price. They scored like premiums last season.

Getting to the point where waiting till the deadline is gone is the sensible move - just tried the 4 big hitters approach & I don't hate it

    Ryan Button

    TAA Diop Taylor Coleman/Shaw Johnson

    Dendonck Sterling Barkley Salah KDB

    Kane Ings Wickham

Team reminds me of the image below. Lacking at the back, perfect up front

VVD a great choice, Schmeichel is an interesting choice. Think there are better, cheaper options. Aarons and Norwich defence a no for me. Burnely don't have a great start.

Bernardo Silva not a great FPL option IMO, not sold on Moutinho, Buendia?

Great front 3 but suspect you're relying on these 3 too much.

Morphed my team into a 442 with the big 3 to see how that works out. Looks like

    Henderson
    TAA Coleman Shaw Targett
    Salah Sterling Perez Moutinho
    Kane Wilson

    Ryan Norwood Lundstram Wickham

Involves dodgier Targett and Moutinho playing (or Norwood/Lundstram if fixtures dictated) but get the big 3.

    Final draft (I think):

    Pope/McCarthy

    Digne/Zichenko/Robertson/AWB/Johnson (4m option)

    Salah/Sterling/Siggy/Barkley/Jorginho

    Wilson/Kean/Greenwood

Happy with my defence, but starting to doubt the reason having two Chelsea players in midfield, albeit for a good price. General chat thread seems to suggest that Kean will be phased in, but unsure whether DCL would be worth having as a place-holder in the mean-time.

    Lucas Moura: 7.5M

I think I've decided to drop trying to fit in Auba into my front 3. It's too much!

    Pope (Heaton)
Femenia - Dunk - Egan (Diop - Aarons)
Sterling - Salah - Siggy - Pedro (Dendonker)
    Kane - King - Deeney

    0.5ITB

Bargain basement 4.5 defence all around - I get that expensive defences are in vogue right now, but I still feel that heavy hitting defenders are better in the 2nd half of a season. Plus I'm aware of the rotating heartache but here we are

Deeney instead of Auba allows me to bring in Siggy and Pedro rather than Barkley and Robinson. I would very much be open to Deeney replacements though - he always gets sent off when I own him!

Otherwise it's solid if not spectacular, and I'm believer in trying to avoid a bad start even if my good name has been sullied otherwise about taking risks :P :pac:

    Heaton, Pope

    TAA, Roberston, Montoya, Kelly, Lundstrom

Sterling, Salah, Perez, Dendoncker, £7m Mid?

    King, Greenwood, Kane

Could downgrade TAA and/or Robertson to get a better midfielder, thoughts?

Think it’s the first Aguero mention. Might you be better off with certain starter and home fixture Kane and if Aguero is fit then you can swap for week 2.

Personally think your defence and midfield is light and too much on bench

Need to try and nail this down by tomorrow evening as flying on hols Friday morning...

    Pope (Heaton)
Ake, Coleman, Kiko Femenia, Robertson (Lundstram)
    Sterling, Salah, Barkley, Perez (Dendoncker)
    Kane, Wilson (Greenwood)

I've decided to steer clear of City defensive cover with the doubts over LaPorte.

I usually play 3-4-3 but have decided to try 4-4-2.

I think the team is well balanced.

    Opinions?

Looks solid. I too am usually a 343 man, but also going to try something new this year. My team is very similar.

    Ederson (Button)
Robertson Chiwell KWP Kiko Femenía (Montoya)
    Salah Sterling Pérez Barkley (Dendoncker)
    Kane King (Greenwood)

Could downgrade Ederson to Heaton and upgrade KWP to someone safer.

Anyone taking the risk and not getting in any city players?! Madness or genius?

    Currently have:

    Ryan
    VVD Digne Ake Taylor
    Salah Perez Siggy
    Auba Kane King

    Button Targett Dendonker Noble

Targett and Taylor to rotate, Noble off the bench with the odd penalty hopefully!

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,083 ✭✭✭Chesty08

I haven’t changed in 2 days now. Anyone see any changes (bar the obvious Bournemouth GK roulette I’m playing)

    Travers

    VvD Kiko Taylor Rico

    Salah Sterling Barkley

    Kane Aubameyang King

    Subs : Dendok Lundy Guendozi

I vote madness! Best team in the league. Solid looking team despite that though.

Any love on here for Cahill @4.5m,personally reckon he's good value and should start for CP,tho he'll be on my bench to start with

Considering a bit of a gamble:

Plan with this would be to field a 3-4-3.

Hopeful that one of the keepers gets to play and that the midfield/strikers perform.

I'm very fearful of Harry Kane not performing, but too many people have confidence in him....similarly for Salah.

Thought my midfield was okay I do always fall in to the trap of having a strong bench and not realising I can always do a transfer every week

Neither of your keepers will play. Neither will two of your defenders. You will be stuck playing one of Dendoncker or McCarthy every week.

Downgrade Firmino, and maybe Wilson and beef up other areas.
