Yep the 2080 Ti is effectively == 3080, and if that beats 2080 Ti, it's GG. And under 300 watts.

Sold. Radeon 6800. Build Mode Activate.

3070, I assume you mean. 6800 is more expensive than 3070, $579 vs $500 but from what I've seen the 3070 is actually not quite as good as the 2080Ti.

    Sometimes.

A lot cheaper in a sphere people assumed they were not going to commit to...

Yeah, you would happily lose out on a couple of frames for a $500 saving.

Lol. Nvidia are going to be ****ting bricks.

I think they're probably still solid on the 3080 front, but the 3070 is definitely under threat from the 6800. The 6800XT for me is just in no man's land.

But man, that 6900XT. That's going to completely kill off the 3090 apart from edge cases where people need the 24gb VRAM.

More or less matches it, if not a couple frames lower on some titles.

Is it possible this pricing is higher than it will actually be? Remember with the 5700 launch, they announced a price, nVidia dropped prices/released new cards in response and then AMD dropped the prices in response to that. AMD made it out like that was their plan all along. Could be the same here.

If they have supply Nvidia are in a world of sh1t.

    Just to note.

These benchmarks all require a ryzen 5000 series CPU, a b550 or x570 motherboard, smart access memory enabled in bios and high frequency ram.

You will not bet these same results dropping it into an existing PC

6800 or 6800 XT which one will I get. I see a lot of games going past 60fps 4k. I only have a 60Hz 4k Tv. What to do.

At work here. Would appreciate a TLDR on nVidia vs AMD card for card if anyone could summarise for me.

I had this thought as well.

I almost posted "I'm not 4K gaming anytime soon so..." ... but then I got a new cheap 4K TV the other day. But, I doubt I will be migrating the PC to the living room?

    Unless I did.

    Hrm.

I would say if there's a noticeable jump in frame rates, and it's no bother to you, future proofing is always worth your while. May not be a huge difference now but with newer titles down the line the extra 5 or 10 fps can make a big difference.

    6900XT - Similar performance as the 3090 but $999 vs $1499
    6800XT - Similar performance as the 3080 but $649 vs $699
    6800 - Better performance than the 3070 but $579 vs $499

Just go back through the thread last two pages people have posted pics of benchmarks. Another thing AMD cards have is smart cache 128MB of it.

Also 16gb of memory across the board vs Nvidias paltry 8-10gb on the 3070 and 3080.

They also have direct CPU access to the GDDR memory if you have a Ryzen setup, which is even more performance gains.

Hehe, 6900XT it is.....hopefully the stock will be there.

Gonna hold off on the 3080 now, might even swap out my 3900x also.

November 18th for the 6800 and XT, December 8th for the 6900XT

Basically based on the announcement the 6800 beats the 3070 and the 6800xt and 6900xt pretty much match the 3080 and 3090. All draw less power, and the 6900xt costs about 500 less than the 3090.

The fact the 6800xt matches the 3080 means if they have ample supply it should be fairly easy to beat it saleswise seeing as Nvidia clearly don't.

The fact that they're hyping improved performance if you pair it with the most wanted upcoming Ryzen 5000 cpus could mean massive things for AMD - they are going after both Intel and Nvidia head-on and are positioning themselves to dominate the enthusiast market for some time.

Add in the fact all the next gen consoles are based off AMD tech it certainly has been an incredible few years for them already.

Kinda seems now like Nvidia rushed their own launch because they knew this was coming and made a balls of it without adequate stock.

    That was already obvious.

I'd say they have known for a while what AMD had up their sleeves and they couldn't get TSMC to make their new GPU's so they knew they were fecked.

They had to go to other extremes like using GDDR6X memory and pushing the power near 400w.

I agree, looks even worse now for nvidia.

Basically in pure performance AMD are basically matching NVIDIA, I don't think anyone expected AMD to catch up in one series of cards so that's a pleasant surprise.

No ray tracing performance numbers shown I'm assuming that's because NVIDIA are comfortably ahead in that department. No real counter to DLSS either.

    I'm gaming at 1440P with a 165Hz monitor. I don't think I need a 6900XT or 3090 series card so the choice comes down to a 6800XT vs a 3080 for me.
Basically AMD are slighty cheaper, slightly faster at 1440P, slightly lower power draw and have more VRAM, though at 1440P I don't think 10GB is a major disadvantage for the 3080 to have. NVIDIA have RT performance and DLSS.

I'm not in the market for a 6900 or 3090 but If those numbers are accurate the 6900XT kills the 3090 at the current price tag regardless of RT and DLSS.

Might actually go AMD for processor and GFX for the first time ever i think

Absolutely silly to even have made that jump in fairness. It's nowhere near the performance uplift over the 3080 you'd want at that price.

Perfect - exactly the info I was looking for. I pulled the trigger on a 3080 today and I'm not too sad because I need it for G-Sync but I realise that nVidia might release a 20Gig version to try to measure up.

    Great to see AMD competing.

Very, very interested in the 6800 here. It will come down to RT for me as I'm low refresh, highest quality settings. If that higher CUDA core 3070ti 16GB shows up it might be a hard choice.

Very intersted in the interaction with Zen 3 and memory.

HOWEVER I'll be waiting for the benchmarks.
