Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The other thread got me thinking.
    Is it brung,as in.
    He brung it with him.
    Or brang?
    He brang it with him.

I'd be leaning more towards brung:D

    Gebracht!

You sometimes hear that. I've even heard people say porté or tugtha.

    Whatever feels good I suppose.

The worst ones for me are:

    I done
    I seen

Seriously. This is wrong. Boggles my mind how many Irish people think this is correct grammar. It's not - correct is: I did & I Saw. Or: I have done & I have seen.

Please people - read this and fcuking remember it.

Oooooooh look at you with your fancy education looking down on us peasants with our poor grammar.

Seeing as you are so well educated, explain why 'I done...' or 'I seen...' is incorrect. I use both, people understand what i'm talking about, isn't that all that matters??

I done should be i have done, or I did. same with seen. I don't know the technicalities of it, but even when I say it on accident, it makes me feel nasty.

If I ever hear a kid say "I brang it with me on accident" I will just drive myself off the cliffs of moher.

Its just a colloquialism, theyd never write like that in an english essay, I know a lot of intelligent people who talk like that. Agree it is weird though, I dont get why they would want to talk like that when they know perfectly well thats its incorrect grammar

The ones that get to me lately are the amount of people now that don't know when or how to use:

    there, their.
    of, off.
    to, too, two.

    Here you go.

I'm pretty sure they teach basic English grammar in all schools, but clearly not well enough. Personally I think it does matter - just because people understand you doesn't mean it's correct. It's fine to use slang etc sometimes, we all do, but believing that the above is correct when it's not - it's just one of my pet peeves.

The number of people who say amount instead of number is a mattter of great concern to me.
