Lumpy day today with a fair few 2nd and 3rd category climbs.

Some classics specialist to take the win once the break is caught, strong break but they haven't been given enough rope you'd feel? 3:30secs is not much with the tough finish and 100km odd of racing left.

Marcel Kittel on ITV 4 there talking with the commentary team. Great to see him doing ok. Good interview and chat. Seems he's been doing some different riding with a child on the way.

This break feels like a token gesture break with such a small gap.

Chad Haga has been doing some pulling of the peleton all day.

Massive polka dot jersey in a field. The dots are plants.

I love it, best one yet IMO. As much as i love a bike made of tractors, that's a real winner.

Offredo is over 15 minutes down on the breakway and 12 minutes down on the peloton. I wonder will he make the time cut?

Why doesn't Sagan have any team mates to help him?

Carlton is talking some amount of horse manure for the last while (more than usual)

Ineos with a crash at the worst time there, Thomas could lose some time here if they can't get back on quick enough here!

He made it back on ok, so he should be fine now you'd think, due to that though Thomas and Bernal are the sole remaining Ineos riders in the peloton now.

When was the last time the tour was this good this early. Cracking race so far

Well done De Gendt, some win! And fair play to Alaphilippe and Pinot, capitalised on Ineos's misfortune, and took time, and as well Alla gets the yellow jersey for Bastille Day tomorrow!

Don't think Dan was in that main group at the end

That's twice now I've missed JA's attacks. Argh!

He's some rider! Fair play to Pinot for going with him - the French love that style of riding. By far the hardest stage of the Tour so far.

While I'd like to see JA go deep into Tour with yellow, I don't think he can stay with the top GC riders come the high mountains.

The chain alone is 6 grand apparently.

Notice how they don't use OSPW with ceramic bearings. OSPW are pointless and so are hybrid ceramic bearings.

So a bike each on the road and 1 on the cars minimum = 96k just for chains

Dan and Matt both on the Breakaway show on Eurosport. It's like the old days of GCN. It's funny how things work out.
