Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My dad and uncle, aged in their early 70s, go mental for a bowl of jelly and ice cream after their Sunday dinner.

i ask you ...isn't there anything more irish than seeing some ol'fella lickin a 99 whilst driving
Yeah, Irish stuff, a curse on it.

I hate the term sheeple etc but I know what the OP is talking about - the gelato shops, there are a few of them overnight where I live. There were the doughnut shops before that, and the cupcake shops before that. Nothing to cause negativity, however it doesn't seem to be a stable business model for most (one or two will always survive). It's like the "street food" thing - that was a bit faddy.

    It's a total fad!

I remember when you wanted an ice cream in 1990s you could only get it if you applied in writing to Hazelbrook Farm and it only came in two flavours: Vanilla (which had no vanilla in it) or Raspberry Ripple. None of this fancy gelato stuff.

This thread has given me a craving for ice cream...

...runs off to local shop before it closes for a tub of Ben & Jerrys...:pac:

Interesting to see ice cream / frozen yoghurt mixed with various sweets/chocolate/sauces, and waffles in cups, replace donuts as the choice of the sheeple. Where do we go from here?

Because it’s much easier for ice cream to be smeared over your anus than doughnuts…

Has anyone ever been to storm in a teacup in Skerries :D They must be making a fortune the ques are massive plus there must be a google-plex of calories in some of the creations?

In the right location, I would say its a great business to be in.

Summer time and people have had ice cream for generations. Why is somebody complaining about it?

Quality of ice cream in Ireland is very good too. I like Murphy's from Dingle.

Also, "Geletaria" in Bray is very good too.

As the drink culture is waning I think there is a place for these businesses. People go out for ice cream now or frozen yoghurt or a late night coffee.

What the op means I think is the number of shops that specialise in donuts are now being replaced with fancy ice cream shops. Which I've noticed as well. In my small town we used to have 2 donut shops. Now we have 3 ice cream shops and no specialised donut shops.

Not complaining, I feckin love Ice cream.

And before the donut shops we had the cupcake shops. They really annoyed me.

Cupcakes, American crap, they are fairy cakes and should be fluffy and light not big balls of leathery stodgy with icing that would give you a toothache.

Love ice cream, my favorite was a golly bar, but no more

    Fair play, ye get it.
