Somebody posted here how to find out for free how long the last person owned a car a while ago?

I am aware of carsireland.ie which gives some info if you "try" to sell the car you are looking at.

Anywhere else for more info? thanks

Seems like a very honest ad and nothing there that would scare me off (the usual leaking rocker cover gasket etc)
    NCT until November
    I definitely would!
Asking €1450, surely be bought for 1250

Looks very nice and the neighbours would assume it cost a lot more. The issues probably make it more a car for the fixeruppers though as most wont want to send a car of that value for what could be costly repairs

    That's a boardie's car afaik.

Kinda rough and ready b5.5 passat
Horrible colour and you'd be owner 11

However it's a six speed 130bhp comfortline according to cartell.
    It's tested till next February
Taxed till the end of August
And the current owner has had it since at least September 2018.
    And it has a hitch
    Asking €600

Could be a pretty solid workhorse

Great find, taxed for a year is a good sign. A very genuine sounding ad too.

That car was taxed for a year last time. That’s always either a sign of a good car, a good owner, or a good car gone bad.

  • Registered Users Posts: 51,220 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Yeah I'd always be a bit suspicious of a car that was taxed for 12 months and then put up for sale 2 months later especially when the remaining tax is worth a good chunk of the asking price.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

In fairness the Pisshat was taxed for a year 8 months ago, the owner has got a lot of value from it, wouldn't really worry me. If it was taxed for a year in the last 8 weeks or so it'd be a different story.

I'd love to buy it just to discover all the things that don't work on the drive home :)

Brings back memories, them passatas were quite comfortable, loved the 130bhp but was always pissed when they came like that with steelies.....

There has to be at least one window reg not working anyways :pac:

They are an absolute king of a machine compared to the b6 in my opinion.

There’s something lovely about a nicely specced b5 survivor alright.

Totally agree. The B6 is a disaster of a yoke, even by VAG standards, utter utter rubbish, particularly from a bangernomics point of view.

Would like a nice tidy B5.5 some day.

A pearl blue or black tdi estate in sport trim would be my choice.

There’s a lovely gold 05CE 4 Motion saloon in Limerick. Think driver is a lecturer in LIT.

Similar situation with Mk5 golf v Mk4 golf :pac:

Clean estate with long NCT. Drivers seats is well worn but it would do a job for taking the dogs out for walks.

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/05-opel-vectra-estate-nct-jan-21/24285444

Grand old estate with load liner, could prob be got for a ton. Tax probably saucy though. Long NCT and looks presentable.

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/toyota-avensis-2008/24696615

Nice clean Mercedes with new timing chain. Must have worked on a steam engine with the dirt on the steering wheel.

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/mercedes-clk-2003/24696491

Tidy boy racery accord but overpriced. Could have been well minded though.

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/honda-accord-2-0v-tec-type-s-nct-10-20-tax-low-km/24472408

Would do a job for a family or older couple driving low mileage. Spotless and low mileage but again a bit saucy on price.

Cheap Merc estate with long test and premium tyres: https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/mercedes-benz-c-class-2004/24467234

Those Tucson/Sportage are very good sellers. I had an 06 4wd diesel on Donedeal there a while back for 850 and the phone nearly melted. They are a great machine

Had a TDI Sport B5 at one point in my life - would have loved to have gotten my hands on one brand new. I always hoped they'd do something like Seat did that time they brought back the old Exeo Audi A4.

I hear there are specialist sellers in the UK that sell near mint older cars with low mileage for a premium - I'm trying to avoid googling a B5 beaut.

How could that Tucson get an NCT today?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,628 ✭✭✭Mad_Mike

It got it on the 23rd March
Ad is probably running a few weeks and been bumped again

  • Registered Users Posts: 272 ✭✭TommyGun2017

Seat Arosa with 13 months Test and tax until end of June. Probably as basic as you can get on 4 wheels but for €595, who cares.

Looks tidy. It'd sell for that and more at this time of year any other year.
