    No turbo there

    No turbo there

But a pretty valuable set of Ronal Turbos, if they're real.

Economical? Yes! Wearing 15" boots instead of 13". It must be 0.5-1l/100km more petrol penalty on that tiny engine.

Street cred comes with a price and that's a cheap price for a car that would be a young persons pride and joy starting off.

It effectively gives you longer gearing, so could potentially be more economical at motorway speeds. Would feel incredibly slow though.

    That's a super find.

seller is a trader however before he got it that was or is a one owner car, it's a good spec, a good colour combo, decent test especially when you consider the potential extension and the bitta tax.

Too many reflections in the pics to rightly see the condition of the body but if it's in good shape that's a car a man could make money on next year if rally season gets back to normality.

That looks to be a very genuine car.

Maybe some of the people here could help me out. I'm trying to find a starter car for my daughter, she's 28 on a learner permit, her budget is 1500 to 2000 at a push. She'll be starting from scratch so something insurable is most important. Her partner drives so travelling a reasonable distance from Co. Wexford for something decent can be done. Any help would be much appreciated.
My head is melted looking at cars tbh, her first preference is a Clio, wouldn't be my choice but that's life eh?

These are dirt cheap to insure usually. Not glamorous, but perfect for someone starting out IMO. Up in years too so won't be looked upon too unfavourably by the insurance cartel

In that price range, she's going to be looking at older cars and insurance companies won't insure her, as she's on a learner permit , so can't drive on her own yet. And getting back to driving tests may take a while with the current situation.
Best bet would be to get insured on her partners car and save up till she has her test done and buy something newer.

    Good luck with it anyway

If doing long distance I'd look at auris diesel or Clio or megane or fluence.... 2009 to 2011 should pick up at that budget.

Might be surprised at insurance as won't be ancient either....

Hyundai should be cheap to insure and would be reliable: https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/hyundai-i20-11-20-nct/24644701

Very clean focus with a nice spec. The 1.25 engine may bring insurance up though: https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/ford-fiesta-2008-zetec-1-2-l-nct-full-history/24618334

VW fox with very long NCT. My sister has one, it was her first car also and insurance was very reasonable. It's been relaible too, just one HT lead has been the only mechanical replacement: https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/08-volkswagen-fox-1-2-nct-amp-tax/24449378

Something a bit out there but I really like it. Bar the fact it has had 8 previous owners: https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/08-twingo-1-1-gt-irish-car-/24078578

Never realised the Fox was sold here new, always thought they were all UK imports

325i with claimed 40k miles, NCT til September and tax til June, €995

Seems a bit too good to be true? Especially with the miles, but its from a dealer, so who knows?

It's a gamble alright, a cheap BMW can end up being a very expensive car to own. It does look very tidy though.

How do you look up previious NCT history and mileages on the NCT site ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,373 ✭✭✭User1998

You can’t, you need to do a history check for that

  • Registered Users Posts: 51,220 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

You cannot afaik. You can only check when it is due it's next test.

Nice car but an exaggeration to say an 06 325i will ever be a classic.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,442 ✭✭✭✭MEGA BRO WOLF 5000

There’s a red vehicle check light on on the dash too. There’s something up with it but it could be anything... (or nothing) might just need a reset.

All the same for 1000 it would be worth a punt if you a fancy 6 cylinder fun for a while. Definitely beats boring 320i and 320d anyway.

She should have insured herself as a second driver for a year or 2, that's what I did under my mother's policy and I got a discount of AXA from €3k to €1600 when I began to take my own policy.

Do you wanna buy my fiesta by any chance?

    *256,000 km Mileage
*Ford fiesta 2008 1.2 Zetec Steel 2 with Sunroof
    *NCT until 01-21
    *Road Tax 06-20

*Timing Belt and Water Pump done @ 240,000 km
*Two front tyres only purchased last September
    *New air filters fitted in
*4 new spark plugs fitted in
*Oil and filter changed @ 248,000 km

Still does around 40 mpg, Mainly use it for work commute, mostly motorway driving, M1 and M50.

Where are you based? Her partner is only getting going on a vectra diesel (first years ncb) after being named driver so they won't insure her.
