I have one. very quiet, comfortable and quite quick. Not too bad on juice either.

What sort of range are you getting?
    And any known issues?

None that I know of. Range wise from a tank probably 450/500 miles. Never actually checked the range or the fuel economy tbh. I do like the engine though

Cheers, pretty hard to find a proper owner review online which deals with this engine oddly.

What part of the country are you in ?. Is this not the same mill that was fitted to the golf ?

How big is the tank? 500 miles is serious range. I’m only getting that on the diesel Octavia (45l tank)

In general Galway so that Skoda would be quite an easy commute to look at it.
Just out of the country so I'm waiting for it to disappear :)

I'm guestimating. I can travel from kk to doolin, couple od days tricking around there and then return. I figure that to be about 280 mile ?. Then do a few days fluting around here. So probably 450 ish miles. Tank is smaller than the 2.o diesel superb.

That's a site that I use a lot as well, when I have specific problem. And it's pretty good. But after reading it for awhile, you could be forgiven for thinking that every Skoda ever made had problems. This apply's to any car site BMW, Mercedes, Ford, etc......all the posts are about problems the poster is experiencing, and is looking for advice on. Just to put it in focus....there has never been a car of any manufacture, that did not have problem at sometime in it's life, But it's equally true that the majority of car's now days are very reliable, in comparison to car's of yesteryear.

Yeah sure, in the exact same way the sinking of the Titanic had nothing to do with the iceberg, it was about crap design.

    Don't get me started ;)

Are you afraid to invite your big American relatives over to Ireland as they won't fit in your Fiat Panda?

Well worry no more, as the quintessentially Irish named Mr Padraic Flaherty from Galway, will give you the luck of the Irish in the shape of a 1.8 auto Skoda Superb with cream leather with 2 months tax and NCT. And gorrah it'll be a bargain to haggle him down to 1800 euro.

Sell it then hopefully with fresh NCT in October when those yanks have ****ed off back to Trump.

The name, reg and even the colour make that the most Galway car ever posted, all it needs to complete the look is a Supermacs bag in the footwell.

Looks well priced. Some better pictures of the interior would be nice, and maybe spend the 30 or 40euro that the good valet you say it needs, will cost.

    Shouldn't take long to sell.

    +1

Its a site that gets a lot of traffic. The fact that the first page of that support forum has all the issues that have been raised on Superb Mk 1s since the start of March suggests to me that either Superb owners are exceptionally good at fixing problems unaided or that there are not many problems to fix :D

1 owner, TDI, NCT till March 2020, €650

Versatile old thing for the money. As far as I know the seats just clip out of these leaving a handy fat floor

Any idea what those lads are like (Autosource)? - debating going for a look at another car they have but a bit wary of any place that has "cash for cars" on their website.

I bought some bits for a Ford Sierra off him two years ago. Seemed alright then, but I dunno what they’d be like to buy a car from.

Cheers, suppose as with anywhere once the usual checks are done beforehand.

Back on topic (sort of, way over the limit on the value for bangernomics) - this is the one I'm debating going to see
    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/volvo-v70-2-0t-auto-2006/22746291

Mileage is very low but seats, steering wheel etc all look well, no major signs of wear from the pics anyway.

And another more the bangernomics criteria : https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/bmw-e91-320i/22303187
Crock of gold or crock of crap?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,152 ✭✭✭26000 Elephants

The Volvo is just crackpipe crazy money, irrespective of mileage.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,078 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

Yeah, the mileage is very nice and all but those V70s regularly appear in this thread sub €2k. Not a hope would I pay that.

It would be worth keeping it on your watch list though, because the VW I posted from the same seller was €1995 a few months ago...he might drop the price of the Volvo at a similar rate ;)

Cheers for the tip, yeah it's high alright but any others out there have nuts mileage (there's one with 450000 kms) - good sign of those engines tho! I'll wait it out, not in any major rush to change.

Sold it for 1500 this afternoon! knocked 100 off because there was a few dents and scrapes that weren't as visible in the advert..
