Looks very good and seems to be well looked after.

Really like this but have no idea why :pac:

Does that steering wheel like original btw?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,079 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

The steering wheel did come like that on them when new, but that looks far too clean to be original so I’d say it was retrimmed.

Hi all, looking for recommendations for a change of car. Currently driving a 1.4L Corolla. I'm expecting to be doing 2 trips of around 160km a week soon so I want something that's a bit more comfortable (saloon) and easy on fuel (diesel?) and not high tax.

Do diesel tax go up in price after a few years or something? Seeing different numbers on Done Deal for tax of similar engine.

    Thank you

Also, anyone interested in the Corolla let me know!

To some people a PSV is just a work tool bought to earn them money. Judging by the mileage and tiredness of it, that car was probably doing more than one shift a day as a PSV so had more than one driver. Creature comforts were probably lower down the list of priorities for the owner as they may have been sub renting it out as a PSV to other drivers. It's about maximizing your profit. Drivers didn't care as they didn't own it.

They’re a working vehicle, 1st and foremost, I’ve driven some heaps of gick as taxis and I’ve driven some lovely bits of metal, the pax don’t care about nice cars. As long as it’s keeps the wind and the rain out they don’t care.

Definitely true of many drivers too, judging by the amount of those poxy Peugeot Partners going around now!

Gone are the days of big old V6 w210s and the likes

Think you can’t get a new plate unless you have a wheelchair vehicle.

Jesus, that's mad. Well I suppose if you are in a wheel chair you would be glad.

But if you were in a wheel chair and were getting a taxi fairly often you would most likely have a number of a local guy who has a wheel chair accessible vehicle.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,644 ✭✭✭✭punisher5112

It use to be a cost thing for the plate, it was much cheaper if you had a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

    Maybe it has changed

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,912 ✭✭✭I Was VB

To apply for a new taxi plate you have to buy a sub 6 year old wheelchair accessible vehicle, hence the Peugeot partners are in ample supply on Dublin streets.

If you already hold a saloon Licence that’s been attached to a saloon car before 31/12/2013 it can be driven until it’s 15 years old.

All subsequent changes on a saloon Licence have to be 10 years old or younger.

As for the age limit on a wheelchair taxi it can be driven until it’s 15 years old.

The barges that’s we’re too old to tax privately usually fell into taxidrivers hands, €95 per annum tax is a great feeling no matter what your engine size! Most barges are too expensive sub 10 years old for the humble taxi driver to ferry pissy Mary home for a fiver.

It's 2020! The photos on that ad hurt my eyes, there's no reason these days that people cant have decent photos

Apart from that, it's a great bundle for the money
Getting up into a 2009 diesel car with low tax and economical too
The bangernomics thread is pulling in newer stuff every day now
    Nice find!

The only small issue I see with this is that its the 89HP version, so essentially dog slow acceleration. A friend has the i30 with the similarly performing 1.4 diesel engine and absolutely hates it with a passion. :D

Pity the test isn't longer, it seems to have just passed in the last few days and been backdated. Looks a nice example

Take the whole family for a budget spin in this 2008 Ford Galaxy with 180k kms and NCT to Next March (€1750):

With a fresh NCT, cheap tax, but unspecified mileage, this 1.6 Diesel 2008 Kia Ceed estate could be perfect for the dogs (€950):

    1 owner S80, NCT til April 2021, tax til February 2021, 90k miles and FSH - €1300!

This very car belonged to an old maths teacher of mine from school. Very tempted to go for a look tomorrow, it is only up the road from me

I know it's only the 2 litre version, but there's something about this I like
Full service history also and wearing Bridgestone boots
    NCT to October
Asking €1750 - Would want to be about 3 or 400 quid less

Don't see too many Boras around these days especially ones that haven't been felted:

Looks really clean, even has the original wheel trim and has the ever green 1.9 TDi engine, asking €750 including just over a month's tax remaining:

Was just looking at that one about 20 mins ago. Looks very original alright
You'd think they would take those God awful things off the front seats for the pictures

  • Registered Users Posts: 51,239 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Yeah I was a bit concerned when I saw them, hard to know where they on there by the previous owner of if the dealer put them on. If the previous owner had them on then what did the car look like before it was sold. Still probably looks too original to be hiding a secret life as a felter hopefully.

    I'm totally lost here?
I thought that was about the Micra, but there are no fog lights on it?
