It looks absolutely mint. Someone's going to get a great deal if it all checks out.

Fluence with 2 years NCT and a bit of tax, 1 previous owner, reasonable miles, €1950

Unfortunate mark on the boot lid, but if that didn't bother you you'd have 2 years of reasonably trouble free motoring for very little

Is this a good bet? Seems to be mixed opinions on the Fluence

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,108 ✭✭✭boombang

Re that Rover. I would take some pleasure out of driving the embers of a once great brand. They did get ugly at the end as they tried to squeeze every last bit out of that design. Sad really.

I’ve never had a 316, but any petrol e90 I’ve dealt with has been a awful. 7 owners and only 130k Km says it all IMO

Is it the same story with the E90 petrol 6cyl NA? I had thought that they were good.

Sorry, I should have added a caveat to say that I’ve only ever had 4 cyl examples. I think the 6 are a much safer bet

Something I couldn't put my finger on with the pics, but then I realised that for a car that doesn't actually look "freshly washed", there are lots of water drips around the ground. Then I saw his other ads, and some of them seem to tally with other spots behind mudflaps etc, but correct me if I'm wrong...

Does the head on view of the E90 look like it has water running down both sides of the number plate (Picture 1 & 7)
Would just make me wonder if it overheated, OR if it was topped up with water to STOP overheating which can be a common issue with these
Maybe I'm seeing it wrong and it could be reflections, but it really does like there is water running down the front

Yeah, I think I have my paranoid head on tonight! :D
It just seems more or less dry everywhere else and that's what drew my attention to it on the front

You could do a lot better with a diesel version to be honest. It's also poverty spec. Same money will get you a 318/320d. Would be rock bottom in the list of engines I'd get myself.

Loads of manure in the ad but it's a car with test that could be got for €500. Those aren't alloy wheels mate. If the service history and mileage are genuine its a steal. 2 keys with a car is always a good sign.

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/mazda/25171168

Cheap car for wafting around in, long test and some tax:

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/2005-honda-accordnct-01-21tax-07-20/25161108

A bit pricey but a very fresh looking estate. Says trade slae so some haggling may be tolerated.

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/08-volvo-v50-1-8-petrol-trade-sale-nct-11-2020/25147036

Looks fresh too. Economical run around car.

Looks like a genuine ad, also says price is negotiable. Same owner for over 9 years
Could be one of the lowest price Prius in here yet considering it's a 2008
Will also come with full valet and 2 keys included
Mileage is very high. No idea what the limits of these are to be honest
Has NCT until 4th January 2021
    €1450 is current asking price

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,079 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

High mileage wouldn’t put me off a Prius at all. They are well able for it. They’re a very good car

Looks like an untouched and original Bora
UK import, 100bhp version, same owner for 10 years
NCT until December and taxed until end of August
Could be a good buy if it hasn't started to rust. Hard to tell from the pics
    Asking €600

Yeah, I've seen a lot of them around the 200k mark, but just wondering once they head on up for 250 how they fare on battery, but then again, at the price of that for a 08, even if you were to end up throwing in new batteries in a years time, it could still be a very cheap 2008.

Had one with over 300k on the clock and the battery was perfect, and had 4/5 bars too. There was nothing in the history to suggest it had been replaced either. The great thing about that model Prius is you can see the battery health on the dash before you buy it. Not the case with something like a hybrid Civic.

Also, on any Prius up to 07 (I think) the odometer won’t go over 299,999 for some reason.

He also has that red Mazda posted by almostrover on last page. Fair play if he can make a few quid, but I'd say the muscles are from endless turd-polishing.

Yeah is the same guy with different accounts...that street looks like long mile road...

Confused by one of the cars in this thread.

Is it unusual for a car to be listed as private sale on donedeal but the cartell report says current owner says its been held as trade sale for 8 months?

Seller claims 2 owners. But it appears its been 2 owners and then held in trade sale by a garage for since November?

Is that a common thing for a small trader?

Is someone trying to pull a fast one?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,588 ✭✭✭User1998

Well its a disguised business sale and is illegal. Its so you have no rights or comeback if the car goes bang

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,097 ✭✭✭johndaman66

Probably only illegal if not disclosed before the sale is made. Being a motor trader and not registered as such on Donedeal is in itself not necessarily illegal, sly and dishonest yes but not necessarily illegal. To answer the original question though its not unusual for a trader to be listed as a private seller on Donedeal, it seems to be rampant in fact.

2007 Focus for 750 (down from 1,000 yesterday). On the cheaper tax. Ad seems honest and car doesn't look to be in bad shape. Short NCT and almost out of tax. Eyes wide open but it may be worth a punt.
