Very low mileage but it looks like it's had a bit of a hard life at least on the outside, probably used as a starter car by the looks of the bodywork. Insuring it at that age would be next to impossible for most folks who don't have a trade policy of some sorts I'd say.

That was most likely a mass car with that kind of mileage. Surprised there isn't a padre pio in the windscreen :D

    <snip>
Not much of a market these days for an 18 year old 206, but the miles make this a slightly more appealing prospect!
With only 17530 miles, I'd wonder how bad the service history is?

Picked up one of these in January for €170 (needed a new clutch).

Brought into my local trained, mechanical professional for clutch, timing belt kit, oil, sparks & filters.

NCT said it also needed front shocks, wheel bearing & a bit of TLC for the brakes.

So far its cost about 1k all in. Have to decide in March if I'm getting the radio sorted or not.

Feels like driving a toy car though

High mileage but it's a Volkswagen that looks clean and well looked after, 7 seater taxed until end of June for under a grand..

And it’s not even PSV taxed, or taxed as a hearse, it’s actual tax.

Why would anyone tax a 1k car for a year for 673 euro only to get rid of it the following month??

It's a dealer and the last owner had it 9 years so I doubt anything wrong. But who knows.

    2005 Saab 9-3 ,
    900 euro asking.

It's on adverts which makes it acceptable to offer 20-30% of the asking price

That's insane value, as long as there's nothing too expensive needing fixing.
I loved my 05 9.3, though it was 1.8 petrol

I think the add may be worded wrong. Should probably say taxed till the end of the year.

Actual test expired in August, nothing to stop said dealer getting it tested now. That extension is a lark...

Saw that car the other day, but my initial thought was it's too expensive :D
The Mrs actually bought a 2008 1.9 Tdi last year for a grand and it was the new model and also on the cheap tax.
Only sold my own 2007 1.8 petrol 2 months ago and was selling it for months and finally got 500 quid for it

Actually, here's a 2008 listed for 1150 at the moment
It's the 120bhp version going on the tax rate

Any thoughts on the Accord Type S? I love the look of it but the 250k + kms would put me off

Nothing insane about it at all those saabs are cheap as chips unless you're looking for a particular model.

  • Registered Users Posts: 51,239 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

The Accord petrol is one of the few cars that would have no bother with high mileage. I think the only real known common issue with them is the traction control/ABS module. If the warning light is permanently on then it's more than likely a faulty VSA module. I think they can be refurbished these days.

"Best offer secures" and up for 34 days so prob not much interest, I'd say your suspisions are correct. 96 must be last of the line on these? Basically a 16 year old design at that point.
