I know it's great value and all but a timing belt is due on that. Unless it was changed since the 70k km belt change.

Given the speedo is in miles it could be 70Km refers to 70K miles?

The speedo shows 94,000 miles (I presume) which is 154 km. The 70 k must be miles, although it clearly says km.

It says 70Km add a space or leave it out it makes a big difference. Clearly it means 70,000 miles and is most likely a UK car.

Hate the lack of a Reg photo but if it checks out This would be cheap motoring for a year. We’re these as reliable as the earlier models? Good run around?

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,685 ✭✭✭✭wonski

Some call them boring, but reliable enough.

You would want to valet these seats, though ;)

They suffer from stretching chain and the headlamps have a habit of burning internally and need replacing.

Nowhere near as reliable as the previous model, but is anything these days?

Be very very careful with those Polo's the engine is made out of tin foil and could end up costing you a fortune.

5th gear gives trouble and if ignored will wreck the gearbox.

Had a look at this. Bodywork isn't that great, tape and extra plastic for rear right back light, red splatter on front bumper and in general a few extra scratches and dinges. Trim missing from top of doors and driver door itself didn't seem like it shuts properly

Inside the interior is stained and worn but ok, everything working as expected including A/C

Engine wise it drives perfect, no problems with any gear and actually has more power than I thought it would.

Definitely good value for 700 and a second or starter car I'd say, but for myself I'm looking for slightly better condition.

Had one of them for a few weeks while my own car was getting repaired. Absolutely hated it. Horrible to drive and to be in. But the worst part was the headlights. Might as well have had 2 candles taped to the bonnet.

had one too, saloon total s*box compared to the model it replaced, think these were the first Renault/Nissans and it showed badly

€1750 and it doesn't even have NCT!
Price seems crazy, plus the fact it hasn't had NCT for about a year
It's the 1.4 Opel engine used in these
What are the "must haves" in a car? Is automatic a must for example? Petrol or diesel?
Surely there is something out there better value than that, but if it has to be petrol AND automatic and below a certain size etc, you're really starting to narrow your choice
They seem to be relatively reliable, but don't get great reviews as they are very basic and it seems the 1.4 while ok in some cars, is under pressure in the Aveo

  • Registered Users Posts: 234 ✭✭beaver111

Got them down to 1200 ,there a fresh nct on till Dec wife cant drive manual dont see anything on done deal thats better🙄

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,631 ✭✭✭Mad_Mike

At that price, it's a far better deal anyway
It can be put back in straight away for a new NCT from today as it falls within the 3 month period and then you'll have NCT until December 2021
As you have to get an automatic, you're quite limited in your choice alright

Is that really the best option out there?

Bit odd that he couldn't open the doors for his interior shots eh?

    ---

Unrelated, but the 5 door is a much better looking car.

No such thing as a cheap BMW... Was this the engine with the swirl flap issues, would that have presented itself at that mileage? this looks like decent value.

"Mercedes Engine" stated in the ad like it's a good thing, I wouldn't take that if it was free!

I remember the first time I drove one of those, the steering wheel freaked me out, had never seen such a weird floating wheel before.

Funny how the Merc 1.5 are using Renault and obviously discussed before but some are disappointed especially after paying a huge premium for the badge.

Drove many of those 4x4 and was like driving a ship.... Float all over the shop.
