Yeah, I completely agree with the reliability. When i was asking a couple of mechanic friends about it they both replied with 1 word messages. Bulletproof. I dont really like the word and always take it with a pinch of salt but it really is a good way to describe this car. Few scratches and dents on it, none from my time driving it, but to be expected on a car that old. I'll happily stay driving it until it blows up.

Also, same with the dogs but sure an aul Hoover now and then is grand lol. We use the missus Xsara, also found on here, if we are going anywhere remotely respectable.

    brilliant cars but ****e brakes

Would love to have my Saab 9-5 in black! Milage is only maybe 10k higher than mine is now.

Don't see mention of heated seats, though, nor do I see the symbol of the button on the rightmost button just above the cigarette lighter.

There seems to be an alarm or immobiliser issue aswell reading the message on the dash.

Common fault at that age. Requires soldering a replacement capacitor into the alarm unit behind the wheel arch. Power drops in the old capacitor can cause the alarm failure message. The other option is to code the alarm out with the tech II software. Or just ignoring it can work fine too.
Wouldn't put me off of the car checks out and that one looks well kept.

Comes on original Skoda alloys (which is a good thing IMO). Seems a well looked after example

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,882 ✭✭✭frozenfrozen

says it has full service history from 07 on and the timing belt was done last year not last week as every other ad states :D

Paper, ink etc... Be nice to see a pic of the tippex on the timing cover, at least he isn't looking for completely mental money.

Thanks for the info. It comes up on mine sometimes, depending on how cold it gets.

What's confrontational about querying an ad with 3 pictures?
Anybody can write anything in an ad, as we all know with cars of that age and particularly that mileage condition is everything, hard to judge a cars condition with 3 pictures the seller doesn't even bother to show the alloys the car will be sold with.
It has been said here time and time again by many on this thread about timing belt changes, tippex etc.

How exactly? I queried a 3 picture ad. Is it because it was put up by one of the boys?

Ye all seem a bit miffed that I questioned one of the boys.

LOL! Yeah, that's mine. It's the fixer upper I picked up a year ago and driving since. I've been meaning to punt it on but restrictions mean very limited market. Open to offers.

Apologies for terrible ad. It's only on adverts because donedeal offered it for free. Then exported the ad with miles/kms mixed up!

A bit left field and a bit pricey for something with a very short NCT. But you won't get anything as comfy in that price bracket.

    I’d love that.

It’s the old 1.9 (pre HDI) engine but unfortunately still gets taxed as 2.0 as its 1905cc.
