I've acknowledged that already, the article is from the Irish times.
and being in the repair side of the car industry I see it all the time, It's as widespread as its always been.

It's an article on The Times [Ireland Edition]. The Irish Times it is not.

Genuine question But what had any of this got to do with bangernomics?

Car doesn't meet the requirements and there's no need to slag off someone's name.

Great looking car still they have aged very well imo.
One for the shed if you had the space.

Rover-based, no Honda input on these AFAIK

A preface lift one in trophy blue would be an excellent one to preserve. They were everywhere until a few years ago

Were those MG's the ones that blew headgaskets?

Had a 03 in black, 5 door probably around ten years ago. It was some car for a young man real aggressive looking.

Did handle very well. Wasn't especially fast although they did hold the accolade of the most powerful n/a 1.4 at the time iirc, made ok noises though, there was a mod where you could remove a baffle in the airbox and it'd sound real grunty.

Steering and suspension are 90s Civic, engine and gearbox are Rover's own unfortunately

€2,000 for this S320 petrol, new NCT to 11/21. Haggle it down to €1800 and it's more expensive to tax for 12 months than it is to buy.

Low spec means less to go wrong and it has a tow hitch for whatever tomfoolery you want to get up to.

Awful looking yoke, looks very low to the ground and probably rotten with rust underneath.

Amazed a car with rust like that would pass a NCT. Wheel arches, door sills on both sides look pretty bad from the photos and I think if that could be fixed cheaply then would have been already. I'm also not sure a car costing 1800 to tax really falls under bangernomics unless it came with some tax still remaining on it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

It's an interesting proposition but it's basically end of life IMO with that rust.

Every lower door edge and wing bottom has it and you know if it's there and visible then the underside will be much worse.

Be 2k wasted IMO as that's going to advance and advance and shortly it won't see the road again without huge investment into an otherwise un-investable car.

SAAB 9-3 TiD, paddle shifter, good spec, NCT 10/21, 6 weeks tax on it. €1,900

First time I've seen the windscreen washers mentioned in an ad!
My brother had one of these, and the washers were fantastic, do I'll let him off!
    Nice car.

Bit worried about it getting a timing chain done, belt yes chain no......

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

    Why would it worry you?

I think he might be saying it hasn't got a chain.

I'd tread carefully with that Saab. Seller's ads has appeared in here many times under different pseudonyms (usually ladies names), and coincidentally all of his cars are "recently serviced" with an obligatory little service sticker in the top corner of the windscreen.

Love the hand prints on the boot are they from pushing it or pushing up against it!

I think it's priced too high versus condition but sure chance it if you wish.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,882 ✭✭✭frozenfrozen

I had to give away an 05 superb with all matching colour panels for zero euro and the guy who took it hasn't managed to sell it for 500 since then

clean it and take your stuff out of it and do pictures again you never know it might sell

To be honest, if I were offered half that I would probably take it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,949 ✭✭✭6541

I am not stuck on the price at all. To Be honest I want rid. it's taking up space. It would be a shame so see it going for scrap. The car is 100 percent sound.

There are 8 ads for 2003 Passat altogether. And comparing them to your own I'd say you've got it up for double what you should have.

It's worth about 300 on a good day...

    I would take 300.
