Friend of mine bought a 2006 megane new. Did over 450k km before he traded it for a brand new 191 audi a4 2 years ago. Megane never let him down.

Apologies if derailing thread but I think it fits

I'm looking for a van, an estate car or MPV under 2k, for carrying loads of ikea and house renovation stuff instead.
Preferably a diesel and low tax and/or easy to sell on after 6 months.

    any suggestions?

I am actually looking for the same thing

2K to spend and ideally want an estate petrol or diesel but something that will tend to last well for a year or so

Even though the obvious to go for is something like a Passat, I tend to find those 07-09 generations of diesel to give issues. Or so I Read

    any advice for a bangeromics?

Nice looking low mileage Ka with nice spec and NCT til April 2022, €1250

I don't think anyone is really paying four figures for Mk1 examples, but I'm oddly drawn to them recently and this one looks lovely

What's wrong with this? Or is it just a bargain? Bit dirty but a couple of hours cleaning it makes a decent runabout.

Oul lad has that exact same motor only 2005. Has it about 8 years....never had a spanner on it bar a few serviceable bits and pieces. He bought a 2015 one a couple of weeks ago but secretly I think he's pining for the old one (it's still in the shed because he's loathe to part with it!!).

They are not rubbish but not very sophisticated or high quality either. Just look at that dash and the headrests. There is probably kids toys out there made with better plastic but it looks all clean otherwise and in good condition for its age. It would be ok off road but not great. It is no Wrangler when it comes to going off road.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Fuel light on is one of the things that really irks me when I see it on a car advertised for sale. Maybe unjustifiably so but my immediate thought is that the car has not being maintained that well. Don't see it as a bargain. Probably fairly on the money for a 2006 A4 TDI with 9 months test and looking a bit worse for wear.

I'd avoid all dealerships so. Fuel light more common than a bad man utd match

    PS I'm a utd fan.

Test drove a 172 octavia last week, the guy gave me the keys, got in started car instantly fuel light on it was 2/3's of the way through the red section on the reserve! OBC stated 20 miles range left

Nice spec 1 owner Mondeo with tax and NCT til February 2022 if I'm reading the ad right, €950

Very nice if it checks out. Ghia spec is nice, I think these even have cooled seats

I remember reading at that those 1.8 SCi engines were troublesome but in saying that if it survived this long it's probably safe to say it's ok. Very few of that generation Mondeo left on the roads these days.

Good. The less of them the better.

Plastic flaps in the inlet manifold, used to fall apart and go into the engine, think there may have been a recall
