Receipt or not there is 57k miles on them 2 belts. 1 of which is the infamous wet belt.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,903 ✭✭✭cadaliac

what would the fuel consumption be like on a 2 litre petrol like that?

    My 04 2.0t S80 averaged 29mpg also.

Ford’s PowerShift box is absolute junk

Always liked the v70 but that consumption ain't great in comparison - I drive a 2.0 diesel v50 of the same year and it gets 6l/100km (47mpg Imperial? ).

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,631 ✭✭✭Mad_Mike

Yeah, herself drove a 05 2.0D S40 for 2 and a half years and used to get around 5.8l/100kms (around 49mpg) taking it handy enough

Ford’s PowerShift box is absolute junk

Firstly it isn't. The MPS6 6DCT450 in diesel cars is not bad at all, contrary to the DPS6 which is 5h1t indeed.

Secondly, the 1.8 TDCi was never equipped with Powershift transmission. Powershift was coupled with 2.0 TDCi, while 1.6 TDCi came out with a horrible horrible CVT transaxle (same as in automatic mini)...

If someone can give me the UK plate of that Mondeo, I'll be able to figure out what type of gearbox it has...

I love boards. You think you know something about cars and someone else comes on and schools you!

PowerShift most certainly is junk. I am not looking to start an argument btw, just speaking from experience. Most dealers I know won’t go near them, will refuse them as trade-ins etc. They have a number of failures, the mechatronics unit, the shift forks, the bearings, the clutches. The list is endless, they’re total rubbish. I had one a few years ago when Mk4 Mondeos were still worth something, nice Titanium spec etc with about 80k. Had to scrap it in the end because I couldn’t find a decent box anywhere for it, nor a mechanic or specialist who would look at the original.

I didn’t even realize that one linked above is a 1.8 to be honest. You would imagine it to be a 2.0. All show and no go, 125 bhp is a bit dismal but they are very handy on insurance with that engine.

In any case I am pretty sure it’s manual. Cartell and motorcheck mention nothing about it being auto

Home in my newest banger, a wee 07 1.4daysul Fiesta.

Tested til September, 199miles, but a tight wee motor. 950 bills. I'm happy. Will fire up a photo when I get a chance.

Hard to tell from the pics, but it certainly doesn't seem to be riddled with rust.
Only concern would be it changed hands over a week ago, and selling at that price, it's hard to see how he is making anything from it at all!
Having said that, if there are no issues, it's a fine bus for very little money

Would the dmf and Sachs clutch kit on the invoices suggest the car is manual ?

The car is manual, I’m just saying that Powershift generally is rubbish, and it really is.

1 owner 325i manual, only tested til March 2020, but it looks nice! €975

Needs to be much cheaper, but I like the look of this. I'd say it would clean up well

Yeah, it looks a bit shonky alright and I'd say its worse up front, but even still - 5 months motoring in it for, say, 400 quid, is not bad. You'd get a few hundred for it too when the test is up from exporters I'd say.

Those belts are designated for 200k kms. I changed mine at about 170k and my mechanic was amazed they hadn't snapped, the state they were in.

Can't remember what it cost me to change them. I remember thinking it wasn't as bad as I expected though. I want to say 6 or 700. Through an indy.

Really? I’d have thought 975 was a good price for that if it checked out.

    06 Micra, NCT til 2021, tax til February 2020, 8k miles! €1950

I do love a low miler!

I do love a low miler!

    Ah Jesus here
13,000kms in almost 14 years!!
That's just mental. It's practically still a new car
I've put 8,000kms/5,000 miles on the A4 Avant since I got it here in August :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,454 ✭✭✭✭MEGA BRO WOLF 5000

For once I'd actually believe a nun owned that Micra.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,079 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

A nuns car would never be off the road for prolonged spells. If one of them dies the car is given to someone else to use etc.

The Micra has seemingly spent long spells off the road, presumably due to illness/death of the owner.

Yeah got it done for 650 on a 1.8 Focus.

Really? I’d have thought 975 was a good price for that if it checked out.
It's a (nearly) 19 year old BMW in dull looking SE trim, with relatively high tax by today's standards. Respectable looking, just not particularly desirable I'd imagine.

Maybe not pass the 'drive it yourself' rule but if you had a 17yr old daughter starting out..

Agreed. At that price I'm afraid its next destination is a slab or if its lucky actually make it out of first gear and drifted on a track :pac:

Yeah got it done for 650 on a 1.8 Focus.

Would you mind PMing me where you got it done for that price? Mine is overdue and the best quote I've gotten is €750.
