Ya but why would you want to drive around burning petrol at that rate?
A decent 1.8litre would be far superior

The nordics are the harshest IIRC.

Certainly one of the most expensive for fuel in Europe, if not the most.

You can sell it without consequences. New owner is liable for tax only for the month the car was acquired, everything before is forgotten.

No, you're confusing that with property, if your a cute property developer that is. From what I've seen you may even get an opportunity to "buy back" said property at a very much reduced rate !!

Absolute barge to drive though, dangerously under-powered.

Absolute barge to drive though, dangerously under-powered.

They're not that bad, plenty of similar cars making similar or even less power.

They'll Remap it to 150+bhp too.

The 75bhp 1.4 petrol ones are what I'd class as very underpowered.

I drove the 1.9, no pickup at all to overtake tractors on a back road!

Surprisingly I was in one of the newer models with the 1.4TSI, and it was actually grand - 125bhp compared to the older 75bhp.

A mechanic near me has an 06 saloon, burgundy with fake chrome everywhere, and cream leather. It’s fantastic, but needs an engine.

It was stuck in limp mode I'd imagine, the 1.9 has plenty of torque for that type of overtaking.

The 1.4 TSI is a beauty to drive especially the DSG.

Not at all. Bundles of low down torque that common rail rivals at the time just didn’t have.

Is that the 90, 110, 130 hp engine? They’re all grand.

You need to be careful of certain types of 1.9 TDi PD engines of that vintage. They were known to throw a rod through the block. BXE would be the engine code. Hopefully if it were going to throw a rod it would have done it by now but something to be aware of anyway.

Totally agree..when I bought my 08 golf in spain all vw mechanics recomended me looking for the bxe engine.
I remapped it to get extra 30 cv with a lineal torque to preserve clutch and I really enjoyed that car for years

    I’m gonna say it’s probably a 100 bhp?

Thought 105bhp was the 1.6tdi, my guess is 90bhp.
