So 40 or so involved in tbe fued have gone to ground fearing death or arrest, except a 35 year old Dublin criminal who is being sighted sporadically. So much for a Turkish holiday

The Turks seem to be knee deep in gangland, even watching The YouTube documentary on the feared Irish gangsters yesterday, The Turks were spoken of having strong links with Irish gangsters. They seem to be more in the background.

Turks controlled the heroin trade in London since the 70s.

You should be safe enough with a 'short back and sides'. Ask for anything else and it could lead you down a very dark road.

No extradition agreement between Ireland and Turkey. That's why lads on the run like going there.

I cannot understand how the Gardai cannot get their hands around this. How big is Drogheda, how difficult can it be to round up a bunch of illiterate thugs.

The fish rots from the head, order has to come from high up the food chain first.

The whole concept of 'criminal gangs' that operate seemingly with impunity -speaks to the general incompetence, fecklessness or just plain 'asleep at the wheel' of the forces of law and order.

Nah pal, the guards will get them all. Guys with a bare junior cert stand no chance against the full resources of the Irish state.

I'm pretty sure a red notice from Interpol supercedes extradition treaties

Maybe but why have these guys been getting away with it for years?
The problem has been festering and building.

Why does it take an extraordinary event to concentrate the minds of the forces of law and order before there is real action?

No. That just flags you when you enter another country. Youre stopped and searched, asked the purpose of your travel and the info is relayed back to the police force that flagged you.

The anti gang laws need to be used properly or if the DPP dont think they're strong enough they need to change the law until it's watertight. Up to 15 years as it stands for a member of a criminal gang? That alone you would think should have up to 20 involved in the Drogheda feud doing the maximum sentence allowed under that law. How hard is it to.prove they are members of a gang? Obviously the law is not strong enough in its present format for charges to stick. Go back and change it.

Also life for any gang leader directing a criminal organisation. That should see 5 or 6 involved in Drogheda put away for life but once again the law is onky as strong as the paper its written on. Go back and change it.

This is the one tool that will finish organised crime as we know it if and when its used accordingly. It will have the same affect as the RICO laws in the US that crippled the mob. No longer were mob guys swanning around the boroughs of New York laughing at law abiding people and without a care in the world.

The day is coming. And it will have scum scurrying for cover like never before.

Reactive rather than proactive, a members organisation for "members" while they terrorise normal citizens in gangfeud areas.
Resources man, they need resources, more money for dress up and posing for pictures for the photographer, why every hack and regional reporter tows their PR "to protect and serve the community".

Not sure if its been mentioned or not but on Soundcloud there's a great piece from Eamon Dunphy & Nicola Tallant on the recent killing & the Drogheda feud
    https://soundcloud.com/thestandwitheamondunphy/ep-611-the-drug-crime-crisis-brazen-killers-under-resourced-gardai

I think it's down to resources, the government only react to back the Garda up after the horse has bolted. Slashing OT on a force that's under resourced leads to this all getting outta hand, they need to go Limerick style on this one.
