Just googled him, Tongan guy born raised and capped underage up to U20’s, moved to New Zealand in 2015 to play there.
Capped by New Zealand last year.
I wonder if Pichot will come out on a rant about this like he did about Kleyn?!
Similar to Sevu Reece moving there from Fiji in 2014.

    Probably.

'Gus probably has a generic document on his laptop so just needs to change a few words every time yet another globetrotting mercenary is selected by a success-hungry national coach.

Any reason the RWC could not have started this weekend and any reason why Pro 14 could not have started this weekend rather than in 2 weeks time? There is no time clash between the RWC and Pro 14. This is a 'dead' weekend - no Pro 14, no RWC and a few friendlies. I'm struggling to entertain myself and are suffering from 'rugby withdrawal' symptoms. Anyone help me?

EIR have irish rights. RTE only have irish games and knock outs.
ITV have british rights while S4C will have similar to RTE except for showing welsh games obviously...
Dont have eir so mix of ITV though cant record that on sky, RTE and S4C and watching online for me.

Unforeseen positive of this World Cup:

All the rugby podcasts I listen to are releasing new content every Monday morning as opposed to their regular schedule. Pure binging.

Good explanation on how NZ have adapted their attack with double pivot. And shows how England’s shape is quite different.

Anyone know of any websites or tv stations that will show full games archived?
I live in canada so everything is on middle of the night. Will be up for the irish games but would like to catch the rest in full. Cheers

In a similar situation here in the USA.

Rugbypass might but they are not cheap. Youtube is a good source for full length matches but unreliable depending on the uploader. I have no idea if RWC licensing will be stricter than with the warmup games but for the most part they were online within 24 hours.

Reliable torrent sites exist but posting them here is frowned upon afaik.

Cheers. I have iptv so can watch live on a multiple of channels. I'm just hoping to get up at my normal time, avoid the results online and watch the games. I used to have a catch up feature on the tv like pvr but doesnt work now. Anyway, if i find anything that works i will post it here.

repeating stuff is very much the norm for eir :pac:

ITV and RTE for me, no way am i paying €30 extra a month for Eir

the lack of recording on ITV is annoying but RTE showing highlights later on each night i think and clips will show up here and there on social media i doubt

Médard; Penaud, Fickou, Fofana (Guitoune), Huget; Lopez, Dupont; Poirot, Guirado, Slimani; Iturria, Vahahaha; Ollivon, Lauret, Alldritt.

Thats steep. I'm not paying that with iptv. Itv app i think will have on demand as well. Can't wait for it now. My wife has fair warning she will be ignored for large parts of the next month! :)

Seemingly it is widely known in Wales that Howley has an issue with betting and the WRU have managed it before.

It would seem he had it under control and whatever happened he has had a relapse....must be bad to get sent home

He cannot bet on rugby. Which he seemingly was.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

If he does have a gambling problem I hope he can deal with it. Ultimately if he has bet on rugby while in a coaching position you cannot let it stand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,616 ✭✭✭✭errlloyd

Purely philosophically I am not really sure why he can't bet on rugby that doesn't involve Wales or the Regions.

You can bet on anything or nearly everything in the world now

Why do you need to bet on rugby if you work in it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,616 ✭✭✭✭errlloyd

I'm not much of a gambler. But I have bet on rugby a good few times. I find the bet increases my enjoyment of the game. I have never bet on anything else. I have been to casinos, horse race meets, etc. So I sort of get it.

But I also take your point. (And if there were a way to stop it go underground I'd potentially ban sports betting, particularly the kind we have now that seems to target young men and exploit those in a viscous cycle.)

Stephen Jones is flying out to replace Howley apparently. He coaches great attacking rugby, but surely there's 0 chance of him changing the way Wales play. The Scarlets and Welsh attacking systems are vastly different.

They got to number 1 in the World and won a Grand slam in last 12 months with the current attack. I doubt Jones will do anything apart from keep the status quo.....try changing anything at this stage and it would be disaster

Their attack had very little to do with them getting to world number 1. They don’t score tries sure.

We have the easiest group, but probably the hardest possible QF

Can't see us getting past the QFs.

Ireland on their day can be competitive against anyone, and even beat anyone. But these tournaments require sustained success and brilliance, something that lets us down.

Oh I agree, I was just making the point that their attack didn’t was not the reason they got to world number 1.

Hey, I’d loving nothing more than to be proved wrong.

But I think NZ and SA will have to be favorites in the QFs. Unless they look shoddy in the group stages..

    https://amp.theguardian.com/sport/2019/sep/17/japan-embrace-rugby-world-cup-shock

Doesn't seem like Japan is embracing the World Cup to the way one would hope. Even though its a year out the Olympics is completely overshadowing it.

Hope it works as rugby needs different hosts. If it fails it will stop them trying new hosts again and it will be England and France more or less every time, maybe Australia.
