Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yep. It's a mechanically-propelled vehicle. While the law makes an exception for electric bicycles that are set up to electrically assist pedalling, a vehicle that can be propelled purely by the throttle falls into the area of needing type approval, licencing, and all that stuff.

I see. But nothing is being enforced.
This sounds like a job for joe Duffy.
I'll call him on monday morning.

100% agree caller, they are an absolute mare around Dublin city at the minute, seem to ignore lights, rules and all other road going activities. Most don't seem to wear helmets either, they are lethal.

    Lethal to who?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,530 ✭✭✭PieOhMy

    I saw loads this morning.

Not permitted under existing road traffic legislation. However being Ireland, there's nobody to enforce the rules

    Truly pathetic.

To themselves, cars, pedestrians, the ones I've seen play chicken with de Dublin buses so to speak have survived thus far but they are very dangerous imo. Stand outside Connolly Station rush hour and I'd say in 10 minutes you'll count 10.

Well the ones I pass daily have no regard for their or others safety, they go way too fast, zoom in and out of rush hour traffic without looking, no indication of movement etc. Some of us have no choice but to drive into the city. Anyhow don't want to go off topic, I sadly believe there will be a fatal accident and it'll come up on de live lahnnn then.

I saw one responsible woman in my district using one. She wore the helmet and wore a big flashing light display on her back indicating where she intended to move. Because you don’t see moving legs (which catch the eye) as with a cyclist, they do need to make themselves that bit extra visible.
