Saw a car stopped by the road down near the Hook in Wexford last year, young fella and his wan throwing stuff out the door. Took a photo and wandered over to have a look when they moved on. Bits of what looked like a handbag but also torn up documents from Portlaoise prison. Decided not to follow it up! Some things aren't worth the hassle.

About ten years ago we hired a 12yd skip, it was delivered on a friday evening. Out checking the cars were locked for the night, sonething made me go over and look into it...it was nearly half full with rubbish bags and stuff.

I got into it the next day went through the bags and contacted the people/***kers and they did take most of the stuff out.

Before that about half two on the Saturday morning we all wake up hearing what we thought were plates breaking.

Out we went and here was one of our bould local tilers with calf nut bags full of offcuts and he trying to get them into the skip as quietly as he could. I told my other half to stay inside that I'd deal with it.

Which I did and he cleared all his bags out of skip and swept the ground around the skip, cleared it up and was very apologetic....I haven't seen him since, I think he's avoiding me when he sees me.

Putting the names in the paper won't make a bit of difference. Our local council take litter louts to court and the court cases are published in the local paper regularly.

A recurring suggestion or observation by callers is that fines should be higher, public shaming should be more prominent or parents should be made to answer for their offsprings behaviour, with no concept that most of the time the people who's behaviour needs 'checking' would be totally and utterly ambivalent to these measures.
