Imagine you're a sound engineer in RTE working on Liveline. You'd probably think "she's in Detroit, we're in Dublin ; let's not use an unreliable Skype call. Because they always drop out, and that is very annoying".

They had one job. Just use a bloody landline.

Stop giggling Katie, you sound like me, and I ain’t no pretensions to be anywhere near able to present a radio show.

Exactly so. They can spy on me all they like, they won't find out anything important.
I've been looking at cheapo 4G phones on ali-x. Assuming they don't blow up within a year, some bargains there and no hassle with contract BS.

Contract phones are one of the biggest scams going, the idea that the phone comes 'free' is a joke when you look at some of the plans. I get unlimited data for one month, and then on weekends free texts and network calls for 20 quid a month (Three network) pay as you go. Hardly ever make calls on the mobile longer than 1 min so works fine.

Even if someone is making a lot of phone calls, even international calls, I'd just keep the landline for that.

Jaysus Liveline isn't up to much is it... talking about phone plans instead.

Same here, when my phone contract was up I dumped it and went free-range. International calls are on the VoIP line for next to nothing and the 3G phone which is now 7 years old is perfectly adequate for out-and-about use and the camera.
I just use a PAYG arrangment and probably don't top it up more than once a year.

I'm aware the battery on the phone won't last forever and may as well get something better, but no way am I getting back into hawk for another contract phone.

I was in Heathrow a few days before the Brexit Vote a few years back and behind me I hear two male voices in sauf London accents giving it Billy Big Balls about how they "don't want no f*ckin' foreigners in our country" etc. and how those "f*ckin' poles can f*ck off back to their own country" etc. etc. When I turned around I saw 2 twenty something Muslim men wearing their turbans along with their uniforms (they were staff). Like Mr. Duffy I suspect they think "irony" is copper-coloured.

I didn't say "Praise be to Allah"......
    Isn’t it Sikh's that wear turbans:eek:

Yes. And Muslims. Given it was London innit I made an assumption they were Muslim so to speak.

Edit: apologies, in my eagerness to direct a barb at Mr. Breakeen I didn’t see your second line caller.

Not trying to argue with you caller, but when I was living and working in London Town my turban-wearing colleagues and local residents were predominantly Muslim....maybe it was where I was living and working so to speak, but was basing it on me own experience and dat. Either way, I don’t think it changes de point of me Johnny Fordener story and dat.......

Fair City needed a drama queen who supports the Israeli occupation of Palestine to tick another couple of inclusive boxes. They also ticked the vile creature box.

Picky eaters. Teenager went blind from bad diet. Old news.

Farmers producing beef at a loss.

Garda band costs. Bet there'll be no mention of the RTE orchestra and what it's costing.
