Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wait a minute, he got a seat in a corporate box?
Nothing wrong with that, it meant a seat was actually occupied.
It's a major gripe at events that corporate boxes are sparsely populated.

    Free will. Why not?

We could jump off the roof of the house too but most of us never will. All the State is intent on doing is making death as painful as reasonably possible.

Yeah. I'd have sold them tbh. Apparently worth 7k each, and Collins Barracks Musuem already have plenty of them on display.

According to Prime Time the unions in RTE believe that salaries should be capped at a paltry 250k to try and save the sinking ship

There will be skin and hair flying when the yacht sails back into Dublin bay

    I didn't see it .

Their own salaries or the salaries of the "contractors"?

Hopefully some hack does a rough estimate on how much money Joe's self promotion of his buke would have cost if he had to pay the state broadcaster for use of the licence fee funded airwaves.

Cabral west is upper class cabral, dontchano. The wardrobes there aren't made from old pallets

Cabra West was the council housing at the time.
Much like Ballyer where Joe is from.
    Check out the bogies.

Still is for the most part.

Salt of the earth. So to speak.

Key word there is "salaries". Mr. Duffy (who doesn't seem to understand the premise of contracting except when it affords him the opportunity to earn significantly more for the same work) is not a salaruied employee therefore will be exempt from this cap as pointed out by our North Western Correspondent.

Has anyone else noticed how Mr. Duffy always seems to "conveneiently" be on a break-een anytime RTÉ fees/salaries/contrcators are being discussed in the media? Kaiser Sose didn't have this kind of protection from on high so to speak.

News story to break about RTÉ fees...........

    Freed us from what exactly?

My grandparents were Irish, free as we are today, and didn't support that Dad's Army shower. You can be in favour of Irish independence without glorifying violence.

From British occupation, your grandparents were second class British subjects, dictated to by foreigners who cleary hated us.

Ireland wasn't even an actual democracy before the War of Independence, England told us what to do.

If you have a problem with glorifying violence, I'd avoid the history of Britain and anything to do with WW1 or WW2 commemorations.........................................

But then we know we can't upset the Brits.... 🙄

So what did we do with this wonderful 'freedom'? The history of the Irish independent state is not all that wonderful.
We had mass poverty and unemployment.
    Emigration increased rather than decreased.
    We created industrial schools.
We created Magdelene laundries and Mother and Baby homes.
We had draconian laws on divorce and abortion dictated by the Catholic Church.

What really happened was that we replaced oppression by the British with even worse oppression by the Catholic Church. What we created was an oppressive and priest-ridden state presided over by spineless politicians who were elected by a spineless people.
We really have nothing much to be proud of.

    Capped at 250k?

Surely that's about 100k too much for a start?
