Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Could you imagine her if Francis Fitzgerald hired Enda's son/daughter?
I'm very surprised Paul Murphy isn't up in arms over it!

So son is unable to find a job without daddy. At full employment he needs a dig out by Claire Dailey.

They're all the same. Even the ones who pretend that they are not.

They're not all the same - Wallace and Daly are the ones who bleat out that kind of vacuous claim to smear all the decent politicians out there who are actually trying to make the right decisions in a world where there aren't easy answers for everything, instead of shouting from the sidelines and pretending that there are.

There are corrupt politicians out there, and these two sit high on that list, but there's plenty of good ones out there too and the "they're all the same" nonsense is a trap to stop people looking critically at the different policies and positions ahead of elections.

No time for them but do you really think the penalty points scandal and McCabe would have seen the light of day if they hadn't pushed as far as they did. She was arrested by ags on false charges and ags leaked it to press. Sometimes it helps to have a horrible person asking awkward questions.
Are you making the sarcasm? None of the above is true.

Hopefully his son dresses better than Wallace.

Saw him the first day of the new Parliament wearing a tatty pink tank top. His hairy muck savage arms out. Greasy hair. Looked like a complete gobdaw. Embarrassing having him as our representative in Europe. Between him and Ming the rest of Europe must think we are an awful shower of tinkers.

This would be the son who was also a director of the Wallace firm at the time that the massive VAT fraud was committed; and at the time that worker's pension contributions were being pocketed by the company?

I can see why a good socialist like Ms. Daly would hire someone like that to work for her alright

    She's taking the mick!:P

Clare Daly deserves a medal for her service to the public IMO. She was hounded for it.

Not a fan of crony appointments. As usual, many of the remarks on here rely heavily on holding anyone left leaning to a higher standard that the bigger more popular parties.

Clare isn't looking for a medal Matt, she's looking for lovely dosh provided by the tax payer, the people who get up early in the morning i.e. not the people who voted for her.

I thought this was a non story ( as he is well qualified etc) till I realised that Claire and Mick are an actual couple! I was a bit slow to find/ figure that out.

By state representatives like the Garda, Judge Zaidan and Denis O'Brien. All because she, Shortall and to an extent Wallace were among those to call out state in-action and incompetence on a number of issues.

Like every politician and worker she wants a wage? The chancer...
She was elected solely by life time dolers? Link?

yes she has done good things. such a shame to feck up her reputation with the cack handed move of hiring your mate's son, particularly when you are a self styled anti corruption anti establishment type.

I've a feeling that if this was FF or FG you'd be copying and pasting soundbites for months to come. However you brush this off as "not being a fan".

Personally I don't care, it's the type of crap you'd expect from these tools.

If Daly deserves a medal it would have to be for brass neck..
The great defender of the "working class" was fairly quick to hook up with a property developer who evaded tax, didn't pay his staff pensions, transferred trophy assets (vineyard and villa ffs) to keep them out of the revenues hands etc etc....
He had all the trapping of those the left rail against however she happily can ignore all that when Wallace is concerned and caps the lot by hiring his son...

Unbelievable that people can't see this..

Highly educated =/= highly qualified for that role. From what i can tell he has no academic or practical qualifications that relate to international policy development, politics or even sociology etc - which are/should be basics for a job as a parliamentary assistant at EU level.

Lest we forget, nepotism is a form of corruption. Its diverting public money to a relative without that relative having the right qualifications for the job.

The EU have strict rules against it, unlike it seems here in Ireland where its still rampant.

However, there are always ways and means around the rules in Europe if you are smart enough. For all we know this was all hatched before the European elections.

I have a feeling Claire Daly will stand at the next General Election in Ireland once all the fuss dies down. Wallace will probably remain in Europe because that's where the big money is.

Things like this are manna for Brexit in UK, but I have no doubt UK MEPs are doing similar, it just doesn't get reported does it?.

In fairness, the amounts involved are eye watering just the same.

I think we should leave the EU right now and make a stand against this blatant money pit.

    Ha feckin ha.

We need a cross section of people and political stances in the Dáil and the EU Parliament at all times.

Amazing to hear so called 'democrats' on these attack threads sometimes.

She`s the definition of a champagne socialist, on over €90k for being a big gob against anything capitalistic. While her brother gets elected into her old council seat

I guess one possible positive outcome is that the Eurocrats will come down heavily on any stroke-pulling, unlike the mysterious apathy shown by the Revenue here. Should be a welcome boost in business for certain distributors in Brussels too...

This is the ultimate example of jobs for the boys, giving a job to her partner's son, having already had her brother co-opted to her council seat.

Normally you would be leading the charge against this sort of thing, but "not a fan" is going really soft by your standards.

Hilarious all those here whinging about Claire Daly hiring Mick's son when the same behaviour is rampant throughout the entire political class. Even the clown Farrell with the spurious insurance claim tried to gift his council seatvto his wife when he got elected to the Dail, that got knocked on the head by party HQ so he hired her as his parliamentary assistant. He's just one example every fecking one of them is at it. Curious why anyone thinks Daly would be different?
