Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So this is going to happen. It's all fun and games until someone gets shot. Kids are crazy these days.

    "LETHAL FORCE IS AUTHORIZED"

    Them Americans don't **** about ...

Yeah ... storm a heavily guarded US military compound with "lethal force will be used" warning signs all over the perimeter ... what could possibly go wrong.

The guards can just use their phasers to stun the protestors, right? This is Area 51 tech.

The army will fire one shot in the air, these idiots will bottle it and leg it home.

Fret not, the aliens will resurrect anyone who dies once they are liberated.

Imagine if they get to a door and then they realise they don't have the required fob or biometrics to enter any building.

These gobdaws will be live streaming themselves getting flittered with bullets.

The sunglasses will have no bother pulling the trigger, and Donald will make a joke about it.

Phone signals are the first thing that are going to be blocked in case of an attack.

Ah never considered that - These gobdaws will think they are livestreaming when in fact they will just be recording themselves getting flittered with bullets.

My geography may be off - but isn't the area itself unapproachable by foot anyway and you have to be airlifted in?

Afaik security checkpoints start like 50km away from the actual base. If you don't have the right off-road vehicle you depend on the roads that will be blocked faster than you can snip.
Also this is supposed to take place in September. It's still crazy hot there so the likelihood of 80% not making the first few miles on foot because they didn't bring enough water and food in these insane conditions is rather high.

It would be an interesting ninja warrior challenge though.

I think this may be the start of all those futuristic 'games' in films where people try to kill each other. We will see a mass culling of idiots, people will be very excited to see it again, Battle Royale will start, Hunger Games will become a thing in poorer countries, Death Race will be more popular than F1, eventually convicts on death row will become avatars for rich kids to play real life deathmatches á la Gamer... I can't wait!

Nah you can drive to groom lake in about 3 hours from vegas, if they let you that close..

    Wikipedia answers that question:

"The nearest publicly accessible vantage point is Tikaboo Peak, 26 miles to the east. There were two closer vantage points, dubbed "Freedom Ridge" and "White Sides", but they were closed to public access in 1995 to prevent people from taking images of the installation."

Whoever came up with that raid idea is a class A gobsh*te. I mean trying to walk all the way in through the desert at the hottest period of the year. Genius, absolute genius. One can just hope that the armed freaks aren't going to show up.

Just looking at bing and google maps side by side..

Everywhere else I've looked in the world - the images are always slightly, or very - different - over area 51 - the images are identical, taken at the exact same time it seems, with the same things scratched out.

    Where's that feckin tinfoil.

Ah I remember now - there was an article on the CIA website that said that once upon a time access was only by air shuttle. I think that has changed since.

Think I misread that as meaning it was the only way to get there.

I will be leading a team of 2500+ aincient alien theories to the northeast side of the camp to Area 52. It is believed more advanced alien tech is undergoing surveillance there.
The journey will be long and some of us know we will not make it back.
But it will be worth it to uncover the truth...
    Power to the people!!!

It's a hoax. The guy who set it up said as much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,235 ✭✭✭✭Cee-Jay-Cee

I hope this happens and a load of them get their stupid little hippy asses royally kicked.

Are they honestly so incredibly stupid that they think they are going to get anywhere even remotely close to the area? The place is littered with motion sensors and cameras, the US military will be tracking most of the idiots from the time they get out of their flea infested beds that morning.

    What a bunch of ****.
It's a hoax. The guy who set it up said as much.

It may be a hoax but the idiots who would be up for it probably don't realise its a hoax and will get hurt attempting it but that's ok as we have far too many idiots on this planet and they need to be culled.

I'd love to see this happen but I think it would be a massive anticlimax. From watching videos of other people getting close, the local police will just arrest them before they even get to the security.

To be fair the event was created by a meme page on Facebook, and the description clearly identifies it as a joke. I’d wager that nobody is going to show up.

Storming a heavily fortified military base, what could possibly go wrong. I thought I saw in a documentary that federal laws do no apply within area51 so I'm guessing they could use lethal force on even unarmed citizens with no repercussions?

It just sounds like a terrible idea from a bunch of naive nerds to me.

Pretty much and its guarded by private security so they dont even have to use their own military. Using US military to protect with lethal force against its own civilians would pose all sorts of problems. Remove them and tell the private security they can do what they want is genius !!

Imagine if they start invading, and the person leading the charge disappears, then it's Thanos moment and half of them disappear.
Some military lad sitting on the roof of Building S giggling to himself for finally getting to use his vaporing ray gun on live subjects.

What inspired this whole thing anyway? Was it the 50th anniversary of the moon landing? Or is there some new Netflix show about aliens that I haven't heard about yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,375 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

If the authorities actually think this is going to become a thing, all they will do is shut down the methods of travel at source.

They will question people at airports, close the very few highways to the area from California and Las Vegas, cancel any proximate rail services and simply make it impossible to travel at all. We're talking the hot middle of nowhere here, it would be impossible for any regular joe to overcome that, let alone nowhere to buy food and water.

    This will not go anywhere.

There's a new documentary with Bob Lazar on Netflix at the moment which sparked it.
I think Joe Rogan may have suggested storming Area 51, or at least brought the someone elses suggestion of it to his podcast.
He also had Lazar on the podcast recently talking about it.

Best thing to do is dress up as an alien. Then the US military will drag you back inside.

About a 1000 dollars a minute in ammunition alone to fire it. 35 rounds a second

Add in Coffee, lunch, photo of you with gun.

    Your talking $1030 dollars.

    Or they won't

Because aliens are not on this planet (maybe with the exception of bono)

The government are only happy for clowns to think there's aliens in area 51 because it keeps the eye off what they are really up to making secret weapons and war aircraft
