    Why is he not banned from holding a licence forever.Fair enough if he made a mistake and shot a deer on land he thought he had permission to be on,the 5 year ban would be reasonable.But he knew he was shooting deer illegally and then proceeded to lie about it.Why not ban him from ever holding a licence again and send out some sort of message even if the poachers won't care.

    I thought it was a lenient ban myself but I'm sure if he does apply again in 5 years time he won't find it so easy to get another licence.

    Meanwhile, he can do what the other guy seems to be able to do - poach game by the ton, take the p*ss out of AGS and generally pee in all the hats of law-abiding citizens.

    That ban only ensures he cannot even apply for a firearms license for the next 5 years. After that AGS can refuse him a firearms license based on intemperate character, previous convictions, etc. IOW it may well be a lifetime ban.

    I'd be more curious to know if he had other firearms and were they revoked?
