Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Good win v Sligo tonight, keeps the pressure on Bohs and us a few points clear of the chasers.

Caulfield rumoured to be replacing Reynolds.

Tonight's win for Harps ended a streak of fifteen away Premier Division games without a win.
Last away win was Limerick in September 2017.

    Nice shiny thread.

Will be interesting to see how Caulfirld will get on in Waterford, if he ends up there.

They seem to be in the same downward spiral as Cork so i'm not sure what difference he'd make at Cork unless Lee Power promises him the money to go again.

Well he lost his job after we got a result in cork... So I guess Ollie will be happy at getting his friend another job!

Close at the bottom now, overshoot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,224 ✭✭✭overshoot

Have ourselves to blame.. we went to ucd and were horrendous (again there), but still missed 3 1 on 1s in the first half alone.. could have put ourselves 7 clear and hard to know if ucd would have been so up for the 2 games after too.
We badly need a goalscorer... But tbh... Most teams could say that.
Ucd for their dearth of a bench the last few games have taken their chances. Keaney will be a good addition too

With a new thread comes more Limerick drama!
The vibe I'm getting is that Pat O'Sullivan has whipped money from their accounts unknowingly.
There were no match programmes printed last night either.

Encouraging to see that the all "new" FAI have still yet to take ANY action against the cheating book-cooking Limerick FC at the final quarter mark of the season

Surely at this stage they'd have had points deducted and/or been kicked out of the league anywhere else?

I don't think any clubs in the Syrian or North Korean national leagues would get away with the scams the likes of Limerick, Athlone and Bray have pulled off in recent years

The devil looks after his own as they say. It's why the FAI won't do anything about Limerick and the same way UEFA/FIFA won't step in regarding the FAI

Last time the FAI actually got involved with Limerick teams Jack McCarthy tried to bring them to court under the RICO act.

If (big if) Dundalk get through Celtic or Ajax would be great, but it will probably be Bate or Rosenberg again. :(

UEFA Champions League third qualifying round

    Ajax (NED)
Celtic (SCO) v Nõmme Kalju (EST)
København (DEN) v The New Saints (WAL)
GNK Dinamo (CRO) v Saburtalo (GEO)
BATE Borisov (BLR) v Rosenborg (NOR)
    APOEL (CYP) v Sutjeska (MNE)

    If Dundalk dont beat Quarabag

UEFA Europa League third qualifying round

    Sarajevo (BIH)*
Partizani (ALB) / Sheriff Tiraspol (MDA)
Slovan Bratislava (SVK) / Feronikeli (KOS)
FC Santa Coloma (AND) / Astana (KAZ)
    Shkëndija (MKD) / Dudelange (LUX)

I’d like Luxembourg, it will probably be Kazakhstan

Who are Rovers likely to meet if they get through?

Absolutely, but, Jack Byrne was the difference. Loi sides need to get to a fully professional level over a number of years to consistently have players like him in our teams. Such a great thing to say in a European game that we had the best technical player on the pitch by a mile.

We can't let this be a flash in the pan though because Jack Byrne will not spend his career in our league. We need to produce and attract more Jack Byrne s

It's not just about Jack Byrne though. Brann expected Rovers to 'park the bus' as amateurs. They played out the back, scared the life out of the centre-back anytime Finn pressured him, they set up with three at the back, had enough on the bench to change the game with Carr and McEneff.

And Brann were made look average, creating very little through it.

Could be a good appointment for Waterford. Whether you like the man or not, think his style of football is puke, you have to admit he's a better manager than Reynolds. Seeing as Waterford are one place above the relegation play off and probably will cut their budget again next season they'd be doing very well to get a manager with Caulfields CV. Would there be anyone else in Irish football thats a viable option with a better CV?

What an awful result for Pat's, getting whacked 3-0 by a Bohemians side missing Pender, Mandriou and probably more I'm unaware of.

Rotten result alright. Poor defending for two of the Bohs goals according to the twitter updates. Any optimism we had in Kenny is long gone.

Dire first half, first came out of nowhere. Pat's heads were gone after the peno, great run from Grant to set up the third.

UCD goal difference tAking a battering

Pats have been a massive let down this year. When they brought in the likes of Forrester and Drennan I thought they were certs for Europe.

Is Harry Kenny the problem? Did a good job with Bray when they had a bit of money a couple of years ago. Anyone with more insight who can pinpoint what’s gone wrong?

Conor Kearns suspension came at a very good time in what could've been a very awkward fixture, he was a one man show in Tallaght last time.

Goal for Greene and Cummins is good..

Gabala/Tbilisi or Soligorsk/Esbjerg the ideal draw? I'd presume the former.

Wien and Antwerp the ones to avoid, is we get past these Cypriot lads I'd fancy us against the rest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,933 ✭✭✭kksaints

I'd nearly say Austria Wien would be a good draw. Not very much travelling involved and they were very scratchy performance wise last season. Now the Austrian Bundesliga is a good deal stronger than the LOI but as an overall draw would be better than some of the others there.

Just watched a good chunk of Atlanta vs DC United there. Football is no better than you'd get from Rovers or Dundalk yet the MLS is miles ahead of the LOI in almost every respect, shows what some proper governance can do for a league

USA can attract players like Ibrahimovic LOI can’t big difference

They can attract those players because of everything else but in terms of the actual football I've just watched two of the top teams in the mls play each other and it was no better than watching Rovers or Dundalk.

Can’t speak for one individual game but MLS is oceans ahead of LOI in terms of level.

Overall probably but it's much improved from even where it was 10 years ago and still I wouldn't bet against Dundalk or Rovers playing against their top teams and it didn't improve like that by accident, the LOI problem isn't the best teams, we always have really good best teams it's everything below that that drags it all down, a league is only as strong as its weakest members so we've got to help ours out, get to the point where our whole top division can be full-time and that is a very achievable goal but until we get proper governance it won't happen.

Apoel won the league by beating Apollon with a late goal. Apollon were ahead by a point until that 84th minute goal.

Dundalk will need to show more quality in the final third on Wednesday if they are to get a positive result, big few weeks for Patrick Hoban. Looks like hes playing for his future at Dundalk atm.

Cypriot side much stronger going by recent performances. 5th in Austria vs 2nd/3rd in Cyprus and wins against Lazio and Marseille.
