Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This is the best episode I’ve seen. (Short clip)

A woman sues another woman for damages to her car after a crash, a crash that resulted in the death of the defendants’ teenaged daughter. Judy rips through the plaintiff like a tornado. And the best line, “at least you still have your son who looks very healthy to me, and doesn’t look like he’s missed a meal” :pac:

...but I have never once seen her take the side of the public citizen whenever they have sued a cop, a traffic warden for being very rude to them, throwing their weight around or being a pr!ck. ...

I have once, when a cop used his position to get his ex wife falsely arrested. He was off duty and got in an argument with his ex-wife (divorced 15 years) over their teenage daughter (some issue with a phone). He called the cops, but in the course of the case, it came out that he direct dialled his own precinct to make the report, not 911. So his friends answered the call.

She reamed him for abusing his position "OUTRAGEOUS!!"

But in general, I agree you are correct.

I would fork over some of my hard earned money to see Judge Judy preside over a case with that Irish woman with the 650 convictions.

It would be the first time that Judge Judy might be left speechless.

    Are you being serious?

It's her money, she and others who are successful can do with it as she pleases.

Obviously I'm being serious. Don't ask redundant questions please.

Plenty of people can do things, that doesn't make them right or ethical. Judge Judy's wealth makes it especially bad for her to rag on people in poverty.

Well it's just that it's such a nonsense statement to make in the first place I had to do a double take.

She's entitled to her wealth and how she spends it. She gets paid what she does because the studio is dumb enough to go along with her monetary demands for viewership figures. Fair game.

So what if the people who come in front of her are in poverty?; as unfortunate as it is for them that's totally irrelevant. Judges in this country are loaded.

I'm sorry if that gets in the way of your faded post college socialist leanings but that's the way it goes in life and I hope that freedom continues.

You hoping to become a millionaire yourself or jury rooting for the big guys?

I admire anyone who has made a success out of their talents and made a ton of money in the process.

I never had much truck for the typical Irish begrudgery mindset myself.

Excuse me - when did I ever imply I wanted to talk to you? I don't give one **** about your "double take". I never wanted to get into a discussion with you or about how she is paid or anything like it.

All I said was that to me personally I am a fan however my personal gripe is she is quite mean to people she perceives as not working hard and she is earning $45 million herself for doing very little work. That's a fair enough and commonly held point of view. If you don't like it I don't care, I am not interested in having a discussion with you, like wtf is this. I was mostly replying to that other poster. Do you really think you're just going to come in and change some views I've had for literally decades? I don't understand why you are talking to me.

Ah I wasn't aware of that thanks, I was sure there must have been a case or two where the cop was a bad apple and she saw it.

Can we quote the images of her yacht and plane more? It's not nearly quoted enough.

Er...because you quoted me? that's generally how Boards works.

You described her amassing wealth as disgusting which I disagree and then you replied in quite a rude manner.

You're entitled to your opinion as I am to mine.

I am a fan of Judge Judy, and I would agree with 90% of her rulings, but I've also on occasion heartily disagreed with her.

She can be biased, and sometimes that bias comes through strongly. I think she is out of touch in a lot of ways - she grew up in a comfortable background, went to college (which many girls of her generation didn't) and I think she doesn't always realise that not everyone grew up as privileged as she did.

I saw her do a horrible thing on a case just yesterday. A young hispanic boy was in front of her for some reason, (I don't exactly recall why) and she asked his father was he proud of him. His father answered yes he was, especially as his son had graduated High School.

She laughed and sneered at that, openly mocking him that it wasn't a big deal, and the young man, obviously upset, said to her "it is a big deal in my family" - turned out he was the first generation of his family to ever graduate High School. She continued to sneer, and then remarkedout of the side of her mouth about having to "deal with this standard of people".

It was horrible. She made the young man feel so small and belittled him. It was totally unnecessary. I can't actually remember the judgement after that, I was so disgusted by her treatment of him.

And also, if you own a pitbull, you're fcuked, even if it wasn't your fault. She hates pitbulls.

    Fair points.

But a lot of what she does is an act. In a 60 minute interview she said she always purposely tried to scare kids in her courtroom.

Also yeah in her background finishing high school would be nothing to brag about even in poverty.

Also she has seen a fair few people try it on with her over the years and she is well on to it.

There are somethings she doesn't understand though. But that is true of everyone. She might SAY things you don't agree with. I always thought she was trying to get the right things done though by people.

Saying that though she isn't always right. Who is though.

Also she cheated on a chemistry test once to get into college. :P

I think in her job at least she tries to be good rather than nice.

I also think she totally gets the developmental difference between kids teens and adults.

    No that's disgusting.

Nobody should have that amount of wealth, it's sick and an abuse of the capitalist system that was enacted to help people and not damage them by unfair and injust distribution of resources.

Everyone should be wealthy. All those homeless people should have large houses and be living healthy lives.

Poverty is not a choice. It should be though. If you WANT to live with very little it should be your choice. Currently it isn't.

I know which way i would prefer though and i know which way i would prefer for the world.

And i think she tried for years to help those people you talk about as best she could not perfectly but there you go.

I think Judgemental Judy is there for the ratings only. It's all a bit of a farce that show.

    It is a bit :P

Well no disrespect. But i really don't like the ideal being no one is rich ..i prefer the ideal that everyone is rich.

And i haven't been rich ..but i think i would prefer to being poor.

Honestly when people disparage a wealthy lifestyle i know they don't know anyone from a real working background because they are totally out of touch with the real aspirations of working people. They want the good life. And this being out of touch with their real aspirations is why the left has lost out with them to extremists imo.

Real working people do not want to be crammed into tiny flats or houses they want space and the latest designer gear and iphones they don't to be on the dole they want to be able to progress up the career ladder.
