What I don’t understand is this term economic migrant ? To Ireland ? This place is a total ripoff. How can it make economic sense to move here ? Unless these migrants are all on seriously good wages ? Cost of living, rent etc. If I was a working migrant looking to make a few quid I wouldn’t be coming here.
One of the best welfare states in the world, very high basic JSA (triple the uk), a high minimum wage, then of course there is the (tax-free) black market. Easy to get taxi-licences, nailbars, powerwashing services etc.

Costs can reduced easily by stuffing a dozen lads in an apartment (with bunk beds and sharing a big pot of Lidl stew in the evening). Someones garden outbuilding might also suffice, sharing all costs. Then they can WesternUnion economic profits and savings back to where ever they want to live like a king if so desired, when tired of the weather.

    They don't come to work.....

When will Irish people actually understand this....

They will have the best life they could have ever imagined compared to their home country and not have to lift a finger apart from signing a few forms to get the free money, housing, fuel allowance, children allowance, many other payments.....

I've done work in houses full of people from likes of Africa and so on and the money they get in benefits is unreal....

LL are making a fortune too.

Why don't we look after our own first? 100s in hotels let a lone the amount of people sleeping rough on the streets, this country has gone way too soft.

The statistics confirm what We already know. People in need of asylum from Albania, Georgia, Nigeria etc.

It’s an outrageous scam and any politician proposing a direct provician centre should be ashamed of themselves.

My concern however is that these arrivals across the Mediterranean are going to be given asylum because they risked their lives and how dare us monsterous racists scumbags deny them that.

Miriam is the worst media presenter in the country,

Absolutely brain dead and is on 400k a year.

Varadkar at the FG 'think-in' in Cork this morning was interviewed on both Newstalk and Radio1.

Bother interviewees asked him if he would demand an apology from Noel Grealish for calling asylum seekers spongers or else refuse to accept his support for the Govt.
Varadkar of course came out with the usual...people fleeing wars and conflict, Syrians are refugees etc etc. All in total contradiction to the stats and countries of origin we seen on that table a couple of pages back.

And the same media/Politicians accuse BJ and Trump of peddling lies

I think answer fairly obvious. It's pretty blatant at this stage the problem with immigration here.

Niall Ó Tuathail is, you guessed it, a Social Democrat.
Here he walks in the proud footsteps of the Social Democrats that have increased crime in Sweden and caused so much strife.

He goes ahead with a few of the regular blurbs
    * Irish emigration means we must accept immigration
    * We need immigrants to build houses for the immigrants that don't have a house yet
    * All immigrants are from Syria, and fleeing war
    * If you oppose his views you're racist.

Leftists - everyone in Syria are running from war and must get permanent residency in Ireland

Controversial and combative stuff from Leo on morning Ireland too.

On ending direct provision, Leo Varadkar says "End it and replace it with what?"

"We're not in a position to give a house or apartment to every asylum seeker."

Shock horror, you cannot just rock up here from any country in the world and start work the next day. There'd be mayhem if we allowed it.

Not really, depends on what you're talking about specifically. And it definitely isn't if you have no cost of living because it's provided for.

Agreed. I am happy for us to house people who are actually in danger, and we should be equipping them with skills to rebuild back home, literally and figuratively, when it's time to go back home, instead of what we're doing now; leaving them to rot in hotels. Look at the Rohyngia we have in Carlow; constantly at risk of ethnic cleaning by the Myanmari, and have long complained of being dumped by the Irish Government and left to their own devices. As it happens they have completely rejuvenated the almost dead cricket club down there. That's what I like to see.

Can anyone explain if these leave to remainers in the Fingal area are housing themselves through the usual house hunting outlets or if they have been given social housing ahead of natives? I can't write pissy emails to politicians who couldn't give a sh!te if I don't know what I'm talking about. :pac:

They are in no way left to rot.

They are housed, fed 3 times a day, allowance given€38.## a week, medical which means anything from doctor to surgery etc oh and medication, clothed, heating, water, certain facilities etc etc etc...

    2 things here.

    1. People on the far left calling for an end to direct provision, in fact anyone calling for an end to direct provision seems to be calling for Asylum Seekers to be awarded free houses on arrival to the country.

Insane isn't it? But this is what the People Before Profit, Soc Dems, Labour, Socialist Party etc are calling for. #EndDP #EndDirectProvision are their tags on twitter. People have these on their twitter profiles. I seen one woman on twitter lambasting Grealish, stating that we have 210,000 vacant houses in Ireland, and that they should be seized by the state and awarded to economic migrants, sociali housing, asylum seekers etc immediately. These are communist talking points. Ironically most of these people don't own their own property. This is the People Before Profit/Solidarity agenda. Imagine if these people ever took power? They would destroy this country.

    2. Others opposed to immigration want DP stopped because they want to stop the influx of economic migrants. No chance Leo, Coveney and Flanagan do that as they will do exactly as they are told by the EU, housing crisis or not.

    I mean mentally, really.

Get construction workers on the scratch, call them up, give them rooms in these hotels, bed and board plus your weekly, and have them training people who have actually fled wartorn homes to rebuild. Have you seen Aleppo? Place has been raised to the ground. https://www.google.com/search?q=aleppo+comparison&client=firefox-b-d&sxsrf=ACYBGNRPIpl6zesmcRj_c6Ep5K6tLHpSQw:1568372496155&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj64Yjs0s3kAhWQSxUIHdAED0QQ_AUIESgB&biw=1280&bih=686 Get some IT guys on the scratch down there too. Essentially anybody who can train them to rebuild. None of this leave to remain on the dole nonsense. Targeted training to get them and their country back on their feet once the seven foreign countries who are pulling it to shreds are done.

That's for Syrians. For Rohingya, I have no suggestion apart from us safeguarding them and teaching them job skills. The Burmese/Myanmari are some evil pricks and as far as I am concerned the Rohingya will never be safe back there. Frequent bouts of ethnic cleaning occurring there.

As for our asylum scammers from Calais/inflatables... immediate deportation IMO.

But by anyone of importance? Just a load of far left malcontents like Mark Malone, Joe Loughnane, PBP and all the usual suspects on twitter in their echo chamber.

Varadkar didn't really say much. I'm not sure much else matters. Grealish should say nothing, by tomorrow everyone will be talking about the All Ireland and it will be forgotten.

    Varadkar didn't really say much.

I don't believe you, Varadkar is ordinarily such a strong leader with a clear, decisive plan for our country, that extends far beyond 'just give them the dole forever'!

As bad as Fine Gael are on this issue. The fear is Fianna Fail/Lab/Green in the next government would probably be much worse. Fianna Fail for instance want to bring in hate crime legislation, it is one of their main "integration" policies. It's on their website.

    +100%, correct.

I want DP ended, as the bogus AS are costing us millions.

Can we not turn around their bogus claims in 24 hrs at the ports?

    I'll have a look.

I've only ever been comfortable voting for Labour, to be honest.

I think something like a Citizen's Assembly would be a good start in trying to get to grips with this issue. But then again it is not really a legislative but a social issue. However it affects many people just the same in one way or another.

To be honest, I reckon that just underneath the surface is total rage at the scamming going on and the ease with which asylum seekers can bed down and stay forever living on the largesse of the Welfare System (in very many cases).

I'd say the truth is, if people were asked anonymously in a poll or whatever, the overwhelming majority do not like the idea of chancers arriving in the country illegally, but naturally are terrified to say so out loud. People have been silenced by the R word completely now.
