Its madness to be taking in or processing asylum seekers from safe countries. These make up the majority of applicants and overwhelm the system. If we even set up offices in Albania and Georgia to process applicants it would be a huge improvement. It would save us and the applicants themselves a fortune.

Then we get the likes of this

Clearly bogus applicants are the scourge of the whole system.

Unfortunately they are given far too much time and consideration here and eventually genuine refugees and bogus ones are thought of as being all the same and scam artists.

We need to do much better at looking after genuine applicants and give very short shrift to bogus ones.

To process as many as possible before they reach our shores is the key.

Good to see if true and shows some solidarity with the rest of the country. Where is it going to be located in Castleknock?

I doubt its genuine, someone up to a bit of mischief I'd say.

What? Surely not? Surely Castleknock and Leo will be leading the fight to have a DPC in their area. Leading from the front, setting an example, you know, all those things Leo is known for!

What a story! Sometimes the IT go so far up their own backsides, they can't smell the poo from the fresh air.

You can be sure that's the media friendly, polished version of the story. And yet it manages to make a mockery out of the modern day asylum trade.

And on the same day we learn that there are 1,300 asylum chancers staying in hotels at an avg of 100e a night each....with a few hundred more arriving every week.

Claiming asylum is now a lifestyle choice ,

Imagine the Failte Ireland adds visit Ireland for history , craic and an asylum claim in the same weekend

We would need a visa/permission to set up that kind of system in those countries though, there's the rub. It is farcical really. :D

Good suggestion though, and it makes a lot of sense, but I cannot see it happening.

President Michael D Higgins has rowed into the asylum seekers debate claiming some people have "abused" the facts about people coming to Ireland.
    ...
"When you look at the evidence that is sometimes fired around, have migrants replaced workers in any of the different categories? The empirical evidence is that they have not.
"You then look as well at whether migrants replaced workers or people on the housing list. They have not.
"So what people must do is they must really, I think, suggest to people, that they must correct these facts when they're abused in this way," the president said.
Speaking in New York, President Higgins pointed to the fact that of last year's global gross domestic product, between 10% and 12% was provided by migrant workers.
    ...
He added that there had been "sinister" anti-migrant messages put out during the European Elections across Europe."

It should read people have abused the system coming here

You only have to look at the Taxi or Tourism industries to see job replacement.
We cannot be sure on the housing stats as they stopped publishing the detailed breakdowns after Fingal in 2015 showed half their waiting list were non nationals with half of that made up of former asylum seekers.

It's Higgins and his ilk who ignore the stats and instead pedal generalisms about war torn countries, fleeing torture etc etc.

But the hypocrisy of the Left is well known so pompous speeches like this are no surprise. But Irish people aren't buying that muck anymore as we've seen this week

Nobody is saying any of those things
have migrants re-directed funds that would have helped people on the housing list - yes
have migrants cost the tax payer money - yes
have migrants become a benefit either economic or social to ireland - no.

He's a bit light with numbers though n has none for ireland funnily enough , just that globally migrants contributed 10-12 to gdp%.

Doesn't have to be a war and as pro asylum posters keep repeating just have to claim fleeing persecution.

Like the case of a lady fleeing the persecution of gays in here home country but she was straight

There are plenty of migrants on the housing list but the 'refugees' get to the top quicker
So these huge groups of majority young men hop on their little float boats, get picked up by NGOs, get brought to Europe and get resettled across a wide variety of countries. The burden is then on the tax payer to support their lifestyles while they get bumped to the top of free housing lists...
I want to live in Ireland with a majority of Irish people.

    Thats not true.

ill accept that. Theyre not ending up on housing lists. thankfully the DP accommodation is more compact group living that people on the housing list would turn their nose up at . Doesnt change the finance aspect though.

Seen a quote yesterday about dp here has supported 60,000 people over the years ,
And the most figures I can find is 1800 deportations over 8 odd years .but yet we supposedly have a high asylum rejection rate

Yeah, considering the majority of them are going to be on welfare for the rest of their lives I'm going to call bull**** on that they'll pay taxes.
