I've been around the town in the early evening this week - I needed to get to the gym in the town.

While it does not seem as busy as last year - there definitely is a different demographic around - lots of 15-19 year olds supping out of cans and just wandering around the place.
    Leaving cert results out yesterday....

probably explains a bit of it alright .. but there were plenty of them around on Monday too

I thought the same sunday and monday night, actually could nt believe the amount of young people compared to last year.
several incidents with these youngsters every day thats well documented.
Good garda presence in all fairness.

Maybe last year they presumed it was for owl ones like me and diddly eye die music but now realise its a free for all for drinking ,carrying on etc.

    Heading in again tonight !

Was in last night to see Donal O'Connor and Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh in the super venue Highlanes Gallery. It started at 10 so I went in around 9 and had a pint. The town was bustling but all good humoured, I didn't see any troublesome types etc. Lots of people wheeling bins around and picking up any litter; doing a great job. Came out of the session around 1130 and there was light drizzle/rain, no sign of any trouble and plenty of taxis in Dyer St

Turning to the main event, the session was excellent, she's got one of those voices that spans a wide variety of emotions and is especially good with the more "haunting" songs. He was very good, too, and there was great banter between them. An entirely enjoyable evening

    Back tomorrow.....

Anyone know what time the St Oliver’s CC car park opens?
The website says it’s a park and stride car park that only opens at 10am on Saturday. But we’ll be up before that and was thinking it would be open earlier for the competitions.

Early on Saturday morning you shouldn’t have any problem with parking - you’d probably get a spot on the street close to the town.

The Saturday of the Fleadh last year I spent the day in the town from early on - had business there for the day and managed to get parked on Trinity street handy

St. Nicolas GAA not 200m down the road is open a;ready and there was a decent amount of camper vans there when I passed earlier. Not sure are they doing general parking though or just camping.

Its almost 2klms from the town centre to The Nicks pitch. Just incase someone is pushing a few children up Rathmullen.
Town is not as busy as last year spoke to a publican on my way home last night and she said takings are well down from last year.
Laurences street was deserted yesterday evening, would it be because McPhails is closed.

    Went on Sunday.

Busy and a pleasant warm day. Not a whole lot of music but a lot of pissheads drinking on the street and quite a few travelers.

    Still enjoyed ourselves.

First time in Drogheda. Quite liked it. Old garrison town feel to it.

Yeah not as much music or entertainment on the streets, as you said plenty of pissheads and buggy pushers with bags of cans..
Tesco and Dunnes stores doing a roaring trade.
Seen one youth arrested and escorted down Meat Market Lane to the barracks by a sergeant and two other gardai, youth was only about 14. That was around 7pm.

Ha yeah it's an effort on the way back up with the buggy alright. Voice of experience here, I'd almost say I prefer cycling up it than pushing the buggy up it :D

Ballsgrove Church is great value parking for a fiver .
5 min stroll down the Grove Hill to the town centre .

There were Campervans there last year too , not sure how much they're charging but I'd bet it's very reasonable .

And there's a café right there in the car park for breakfast :P

The money they make for parking during the Fleadh goes towards the youth group so it'd be good to see it fill up.

Just home, the atmosphere is great just like last year. Serious effort from a lot of volunteers and it’s paying off. It’s a good news story which was badly needed.

Great night on Tuesday but full of kids, was a bit of a joke. And €6 for a can of bulmers? And those portaloos with no lighting were grim. I'll head scholars tomorrow, be no kids getting lamped.

Huge crowds in town last night will be crazy the weekend if weather is ok, Thin Lizzy band at Grey Goose were deadly, guards caught some clown kicking wheelie bin full of cans over and made him pick he lot upðŸ˜

I was over at Ballsgrove this morning and the Holy Family church car park are accepting car parking ,caravans , Campervans etc ..
    Great location and very reasonable.
Fine community centre right in the car park with toilets , coffee-shop etc ..
Town centre is a very short walk , right turn out of car park and down the short hill to the right .
Driving directions - just off the Donore Rd at Ballsgrove .

As another poster mentioned , any funds raised from the parking goes to the local youth group which does excellent work for the kids in the area .

Weather from after lunch today will be savage, no more 1am buzzkill downpours, the town will be mental, going to eat and drink my way from scholars to the Trinity and listen to buskers for the day.

Enjoyed the coverage on TG4 last night.

By any chance did anyone catch the name of the group of young musicians they showed playing on the street?
They were 2 male fiddle players and a banjo player, and a female harpist and flautist, all in their teens
They were brilliant, and I'd love to hear more from them.

Now, that’s what I was talking about....

As a lifelong Thin Lizzy fan, I would have enjoyed a TL tribute act any time. And they could have been booked to play any time, but they’re hardly ‘fleadh’ material. Any venue with a band playing, or a ballad shouter plugged into a PA, is a venue that isn’t available to all those musicians who travelled to Drogheda to play in sessions, or all those lovers of traditional music who came to listen.

Heading up Meat Market Lane there not long ago, it's a disgrace and from the looks of it the cleaning crews have knocked off for the day.

Cleaners were out at 5am on fair st, they obviously missed a chunk. I wouldn't mind but there's plenty of bins, shouldn't be any litter, culchies are filthy bastards.

Estimated over half a million visitors, what a week, big success. I wish I could have made it out every day, the body just couldn't keep up. I would be tempted to go to mulingar next year for a couple of days.
