Not to mention the climbing deficit and national debt. He will bankrupt the US if this trajectory were to continue through a 2nd term. Slapping tariffs on US importers and using the money to bail out soybean farmers. I must be missing the genius; this guy pledged to eliminate the national debt, and keep GDP above 3% (already broken). Must be true what they say about the IQ of the MAGA brigade.

You don't follow the stock markets so?
Him 'ordering' U.S. companies to stop doing business with China...hilarious.
China is not all that the economy is about. What about unemployment, manufacturing rebound, job creation. And the China thing is a short term hit because of the trade tit-for-tat going on in negotiations. When it's resolved watch the DOW jump up. But I’m sure you will credit Obama for it once it does.

You can ignorantly accuse me of "whataboutism," but what it really is involves identifying similar scenarios in order to see if it holds up when the shoe is on the other foot!

People who defend Donald "grab them by the pussy" Trump on a regular basis expect us to condemn the Ilhan for entering into a consensual relationship?

Seriously we're not that stupid Pete!
To be fair Donski has had consensual relations aswell. Barebacking a pornstar weeks after his wife gave birth being one example

Real wages have stagnated, and many of the jobs being created are boosted by numbers from the Gig economy. Even a few hours of DoorDash a week, you will be reported as self-employed.

For a “short term hit” this trade war with China has been going on for 18 months and shows no sign of cooling off.

The national debt is growing still at a rate of $1T/year under Trump. That’s before you dive into the nitty gritty of the cost of his policies, like the tax cuts or the extinction of the estate tax, which will end up costing the country far more in the long run. Not seeing the business genius that was promised.

Perhaps you should read more closely. The issues… It is being reported that Omar married her brother to scam the immigration process to get her brother into the country, then while professing devout Muslim ideals does things, consensual mind you, that would get her stoned in the country she came from for sins against the religion she professes, and how she uses that faith against those who criticize her. Seems if it weren't for double standards, the left wouldn't have any standards at all.

You can ignorantly accuse me of "whataboutism," but what it really is involves identifying similar scenarios in order to see if it holds up when the shoe is on the other foot!

If allegations are correct relations BEFORE taking office... unlike Bill Clinton, Lyndon B Johnson and John F Kennedy who seemingly treated the oval office as their private sex dens.

Hang on, she married her own brother? Are they genetically related or is one adopted / fostered?

You're being selective. If the stock market isn't related to the economy maybe you're right ;)

    Yeah totally, Obama :)
You realise I'm not American? You should know I think the Democrats are too right wing. Trump is what we call a chancer. May your God bless you if you genuinely believe half the nonsense you spout.

Reports indicate she married her own biological brother. She and her family refuse to answer questions on the subject.

    absolutely disgusting.
Personally I do not think the marriage was one of intimacy. But done instead to scam the US immigration process and get her supposed brother/husband into the US... which IS illegal and should be investigated.

    Allegedly.

There is no evidence to support the accusation - which is years old.

That deductive cognitive wherewithal must have a short-circuit because as it turns out Trump was what was best for the economy of the country.

How could anyone who knows about American politics think that a Republican president could be good for the economy? 18 out of 19 of the poorest states are Republican controlled. Wanting a good economy and voting Republican is the stupidest thing someone could do.
Eighteen of the 19 poorest states have legislatures where both chambers are Republican controlled. New Mexico (46th richest, fifth poorest) is Democratic. But there isn’t another blue or purple state until you get to purple Maine (31st richest, 20th poorest) with its “split” legislature of one party in each chamber. All the states in between (such as Tennessee and Florida) are Republican, both chambers. So is Michigan, where Republicans hold all high state offices (where Donald Trump won in 2016). Above New Mexico, you jump all the way to middle of the pack Vermont (27th richest, 24th poorest) to find a state with both legislative chambers held by Democrats.

How's this US story relevant to us here in Ireland?

Is it real Eric? It's worth reading this study on Conservatives being gullible:
Significant evidence suggests that fake news and misinformation impact, for the moment at least, predominantly the right side of the political spectrum (e.g., Lazer n.d., Benkler, 2017).

Is the cost of living far lower in those poorest states compared to the cost of living in the richest states? You do realize cost of living has a tremendous impact on the terms poor and rich.

Current affair, in my humble opinion.

Plenty of ‘yanks’ and ‘expats’ on the website to discuss this.

We can do it by net contributors and net takers from the federal treasury if you prefer? Republican states make up a disproportionate amount of the “taker” states, that pay pennies against the dollars they receive in federal handouts. South Carolina being one of the worst, and at the bottom in education rankings. So, if the insinuation is that people living in Republican states are just more frugally savvy or something I’m here to tell you that isn’t it.

It does indeed. There's a low cost of living because people who live there make sweet f all. Just like in Africa.

    Is US dollars...

    Rich:
Average salary in New Jersey $64,621. Average cost of home in New Jersey $300,000. Average property tax bill in New Jersey $8,690.

    Poor:
Average salary in Mississippi $43,529. Average cost of home in Mississippi $98,000. Average property tax bill in Mississippi $508.

Now... who is really rich and who is really poor?

    Median too, please.

Nobody builds $12 million mansions in Mississippi- not at near the rate of NJ. Average is easy to skew.
