Pinot has the look that he will step off the bike at any stage here

Really disappointing for Pinot. Definitely the rider I wanted to see win this. Anyone other than GT & SK now.

    Quote from cyclingnews:

“L'Equipe is reporting that Pinot was suffering from a torn quadricep. It is not yet known precisely when that injury was sustained, but it is clear that his Groupama-FDJ teammates were aware that he was carrying the injury into today's stage”.

A sneaky call from ASO to Marc Madiot asking for FDJ to work for Alaphillipe now?

    pinot got that injury yesterday

poor guy Pinot - could well be his only chance to win the TDF.

L’Equipe saying Pinot has been suffering from a vast internal muscle tear. Had heard rumours that he was ill, but seems this was the reason for his abandon

He managed to ride with a torn quad...that is mental. The cameramen and photographer's at the car was being proper kunts.

it's part of the drama and story of the tour and has every right to be shown, bad as it is for him. it's a bike race, he will get over it.

it's not like someone is filming a fatal car crash and the aftermath with bloody bodies and body parts strewn across the road or something.

he has every right nonetheless to be very disappointed and even emotional and express that - shows that it meant a lot.

I'd be more worried if he just hopped off his bike nonchalantly with a wry smile and jumped into the team car.

Looks like Ineos are going to bore their way to victory here by just trying to burn off Alaphilillpe leaving Thomas by default in yellow, not a nice way to win it imo

Easily one of the worst posts on the internet.

It is certainly okay for men to cry and it is certainly okay for an athlete to cry after sacrificing so much for their dream only for it to be taken away from them by injury.

What's wrong with grown men crying?

    Two days ago apparently:
Groupama-FDJ directeur sportif Philippe Mauduit has told France Televisions that Pinot's injury was sustained two days ago. He managed to suffer through yesterday's stage but the pain proved too much in the opening kilometres here. “While he was avoiding a crash, his left knee hit the handlebars and the pain just got worse,” Mauduit said. “We’ve been hoping for an improvement, but we knew this morning that it would be complicated if the race was hard. He’s been in pain since the start. It wasn’t possible to keep riding.”

Can't believe I'm stuck on a two hour work call as opposed to watching this on TV!

Nah. INEOS are no where near as strong to bore their way to a stage victory let alone yellow.

If thomas wins, it won’t be by default.
