Final stage 128km in to Paris. Flatish stage nothing really up for grabs except a few sprint points and the stage end sprint.

I think the landslide gifted Bernal the win, he might well have won anyways, in fact its more than likely, but we'll never know, he had to ride the valley and the climb to Tignes with only Yates for company and a fairly commited chase from the rest of the GC contendors behind. That effort combined with the long hard stage 20 that was largely nullified could have made him pay if he had gone too deep.

My mother just commented that Orla's dressed for the Ball and the two lads are dressed for the bog :D

I'd expect nothing less from the Baile na Scrine woman. Brings a smile to my face when I see her on the telly - back in her school days you'd have been more likely to see her running around the place with a Camogie stick!

That's a bit surreal going through the louvre and no one about

Why so late this year , was it down to the long transfer?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,618 ✭✭✭happytramp

Best in years. However I'd dock a couple of points for being robbed of the chance to see Pinot and Bernal go head to head to see who really was the strongest in the race.

The symmetry and the alignment of the roads and monuments in Paris is always something that will impress me.
From the Louvre through Arc de Triomphe to La Defense, and now the sun shining right down it is amazing.

Beautiful, great firing lines for artillery if needed though...

Alaphilippe will be given the combativeness award so a well deserved trip to the podium for him.

Think that was Nico helping Matthews back after his mechanical?

Not sure who it was but his Girlfriend is this lady who was on the podium the other day. Xiomy Guerrero, the couple live in the Colombian city of Zipaquira, just five minutes away from Bernal’s parents

How many Tours can Bernal win, with a long term Ineos contract, and Ineos having signed up for 3 years minimum, injury and bad luck aside, he is likely going to be riding for the best team, as the best rider, for a good chunk of the next decade. As some of the lads on the commentary were saying they continued to improve as riders from his age up to 27/28, he could potentially be set to break record after record!

Good thing 'Ronan' Dennis abandoned :pac:

Kelly can be great at times if they get him talking and even funny like when they were convinced a big break was going to go in one of the stages and only a few got away and he said to hatch ah for ffffff ... gods sake even we could have gone away there.

I think one of the reasons I really enjoyed this tour is because I thought the coverage from Eurosport was great. I'm not a fan of Carlton Kirby, but at least you know he will be swapping in and out with Rob Hatch. Then you also have Kelly, Brian Smith or Dan Llyod alongside in the commentary box. I think Orla does a good job presenting the show and you have Matt Stephens doing random interviews. And Wiggo isn't everyone's cup of tea but I thought he was interesting as he speaks his mind. And if anything, the segment on the motorbike was something novel.
