What is the purpose of those recently installed posts at chip shop?

If its where I think it is then its an attempt to stop illegal parking. Attempt. They dont work. The clampers should be towing them away but they're useless fecks.

They are a feeble/pathetic attempt to discourage people from parking cars in the bike lane!

All they've done is make the bike lane even more dangerous for cyclists.

Even without the blocking of the lane not on my life would I ride that and pass cars so closely that are potentially going to reverse out of those spaces in front of the shops. I'd be signalling and pulling out into the lane until I passed there.

I assume they're to prevent encroachment into the cycle lane by vehicles turning into/out of the side road.

I thought from the images in the previous tweets the parking spaces were angled or perpendicular to the road, clearly not the case from seeing the video. Jesus wept.

There's a row of angled spaces just outside the shops (where McHughs off licence is based). The later pictures are further along the road.

They're not angled, they're meant to park straight parallel. Never happens though. That design doesn't work without concrete separators between bays.

Its the same on Taylors Lane at Costcutter. No driver will ever bother to parallel park to pop in for milk so the design is destined to fail.
