We're Anfield rusty it looks like, we haven't played a game here in ages.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

Just one of those games, cruise to a 3-0 lead, they score a very good goal a few minutes before half time and come out the second half ready to give it a go where as our lads have the feet up after being in cruise control for most of the first half and get completely ran all over. Picked it up again before they got in front, now see it out and learn from it.

I hope teams are looking at this and thinking about giving it a go against us.

    Milner has made massive difference.

Well safe to say Gomez did grab his chance to dethrone Matip or VVD.

Played some excellent football in the first half though....

Origi turns the game every time he comes off the bench.

What a player sub he is turning into for us.

    ;)

Oh ya that is great. We were 3-1 at half time. Just because we might win is no reason to rage about the reason we had to fight back

Yea, but two matches here since 15 Aug, seems crazy, but it's true.

Love another one to just take away any possibility of a big narrative flip of Haaland grabbing the equaliser.

Goina need a 5th to settle this

Origi changed the game when he came on at the weekend and he changed it again tonight.

Milner not making the sloppy mistakes Henderson made is helping a lot as well.

But do they not deserve credit for the way they conceded the goals?

They deserve credit for their first half performance, criticism for throwing away the lead but credit again for regaining the lead.

I've been impressed with performance since they equalised. Many teams would have dropped their heads.

I think the players themselves will self reflect and realise themselves they need to do better when ahead.

Milner sub has been good too.

So if I've counted it right that's 6 goals and 4 assists for Salah in his 9 appearances this season.

Even when he's "off form" he's still delivering.

Taking off two passengers and getting Bobby a bit deeper has made the difference. Milner and Origi have done fine. Both want the ball and aren’t wasting it.

Can't have been rust when we blew them off the park first half, it's complacency simple as that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

I do like that we have turned into cynical time wasting *****, about time we started adding the required 'dark arts' to see out games/frustrate the opposition.

The amount of work Fab gets through is amazing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,212 ✭✭✭shamrock55

    Fab had to do thst

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,465 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Milner comes on and sorts it all out, moving the ball fast when he gets it, others follow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,508 ✭✭✭✭noodler

What is wrong with Fab tonight

Fab taking one for the team again - legend

Salzburg are good. We’ve been making mistakes in plenty of games that haven’t been punished. Salzburg have been pretty ruthless with their chances when we’ve been sloppy.

But on the other hand, we’ve been very good in the final third. Much improved than from Sheffield U game

He had a good game for the most part, outside of the mad 15 minutes where everyone was off it. And took a very good foul/yellow card when they could have been running at goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Salah’s passing around the box is like bad scripting in FIFA. You’ve an easy pass on and you push the controller in that direction but it goes nowhere near where you want.

VVD is so poor tonight he actually looks just human.

He has been alone in midfield most of the night

Just looks like he's struggling to get around.

No more than anyone else mind

So if we win it grand then????

Lets forget about the fact they dropped there guard after scoring the 3 and let in 3 goals?

Trent and Gomez have stepped up massively in defence since letting the third goal in. Really good character between them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 297 ✭✭Starfleet Student

TAA and Gomez should never play beside each other.

Nah, they put together a very good 4/5 months at the start of last season before Gomez's injury. Gomez is still rusty/lacks match sharpness and they are only 22 and 20, half a decade from their peak.

3 points and a win on to Rodgers now.

    Did I say that?

It's important to get three points.

First half hour performance was fantastic and deserves praise that's all I'm saying.

Of course conceding three goals is poor but they did well since then.

Management is not always about bollocking people you know?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,384 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Good to get the 3 points but a lot of energy expended before Leicester on Saturday. We definitely got complacent after 3-0.

Will be a tough game over in Salzburg.

Really dying to hear the criticism of Salah’s mentality once more after digging us out of a hole yet again tonight.

Mental 20 minutes in the middle there. Subbing Henderson and Gini changed the game back in our favour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Need to sort that defence out. Could see United scoring two against us if we keep this up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,932 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

The neutrals must be fuming, hammering the backspaces right now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,399 ✭✭✭✭ThunbergsAreGo

    That was a great game!

Great three points - would be great to be through before going there
